Dont use the dos upgrade it is too much work. Go to the oc freaks and look around for the windows upgrade. It takes 3 clicks and 10 seconds.

I have the polaroid drive. Just wondering, how can I tell who its made by? Looking on the top of the drive doesn't help much, just says its manufactured by Top Glory.

I have had nothing but the best experience working with OM B&M clerks and mgmt on these deals. I had received my first deal (40x12x48 burner with 100-pack of CDRs, FAR), but then *missed* the 7-day deadline for the $30 on the CDRs! Darn it! So, today I took my pink receipt from the OM online purchase and went to the store. I told the clerk and the mgr that I needed to photocopy the pink receipt for both rebates (burner and CDRs), and that pink wouldn't copy well. I asked if there was some way they could help me out, like another copy of the receipt. *Or*, I suggested, perhaps I could "return" and then repurchase the CDRs for a fresh receipt. That's what they did for me, no problem. I had brought a 100-pack up with me, off the shelf, and they gave me a credit for my original CDR purchase, then rung it back up and we put the 100-pack back on the shelf. I left with a new receipt for the CDRs.

The key is how I relate to these guys. I'm not there only for the money. I'm there to enjoy the experience and see what happens. I didn't know if they would help out, but I hoped they would and enjoyed the opening moments, talking to the clerk, anticipating that it would work out alright. I have to say that if anyone here has a bad experience with clerks and managers, half the time it's that person's reflection, bounced off these people. Anyway, don't stop believing, guys. Just ask for help.

Do you live in NYC? The moment you show them coupons and ads, they start to treat you like dirt here. If I do try to explain something about pricing, and they know they're wrong, they just blame the computer, and they would only know how to scan the price. All people i know had bad exp. with OM. I think its the regional thing.

a lite-on 48x burner with Mt. Rainier support for 23$ ... that is such a great deal.. im very happy. Thank you to everyone that helped make this deal possible

Just what happened to me - I scored on the 5 dollar deal a bit ago, and got the liteon - easy to change to a 48x..... so I decided to try this one for my woman - called on the phone, the CSR said the coupon (20 off 50) was in store only so I had to go in to get but she'd send it in the 59.99 price... got there and they had no record, bullshitted with the manager for a while, he told his cashier to do it... cashier mis entered the discount - entered 59.99 as the discount, so the drive ended up being 30.... and with a mail in rebate i'm getting paid 10 bucks to get it... and it's a liteon to boot!

Wanted to say that I called in on this in the wee morning hours of Friday 9/6/02. Spoke to a very courteous, even cute-sounding, CSR from OM. She knew exactly of the deal I wanted. However, the only one of the three drives left in stock was the Polaroid. Picked that up, added a $0.29 box of paperclips. At which point, she asked if I didnt want to do the Free after MIR deal on the Kyphermedia CDRs. Must say, Ive never had a CSR suggest a way to help me out with meeting their price by pointing out another great deal. I passed on the CDRs (got a hundred already and they are always available). So mine worked out to be, after a $15 off $50 *online* OD coupon to be 37.83, shipped. Just got in delivered this morning. Three days isnt bad in my book. And I am bout to fill out the $30 MIR from Polaroid and the free CD Player from Office Max....Muhahahahaha! I love this stuff! Thanks MysticMan1!

SON OF A B$#CH!!! My local Office Max never has any of these deals on the shelf so I called OM.com about the CDRW deal and spoke with a very courteous and seemingly competent CSR. When inquiring about the OD 20 off 50 coupon, she asked me to fax a copy to her along with the actual advertisement showing the $59 price. So I played along with their game, but get this, she gave me the wrong fax number, even after I asked her to repeat it (it was a valid fax #, just for a different site). So I faxed it in and waited, and waited, and .... 3 hours later, I called and asked if they had processed the order and the new CSR said they were still waiting for my fax?!?! But this CSR stated that the OD coupon was B&M only and that people were "abusing it" and then she had some half assed excuse about why she couldn't do the order for in store pickup. Anyway, I called back 2 hours later and used an OD 15 off 50 online code with a different CSR and it went through just fine. But then, when I said I wanted to add the Khypermedia CDR's to my order, the schmuck said that it too was an in store only deal and he couldn't process it online!!! Office Max just went waaaaaay down on my list of reputable online merchants, three different CSR's, and not a brain to share between them.

Moral of the story, I'll get my Cendyne for $5 and think twice or maybe even three times before giving Office Max my business next time.
