OK, i went to my OM today (whiteplains, NY), and the manager is an @**, he didnt like the coupon, and didnt like the printed ad that I brought either (the one with all the big IRs). I was going to get the cdrw for $40 b4 $20 mir.

First, he said the picture wasnt clear, and he cant read the item number, and he cant tell what week it's for. After I pointed to him the 'open labor day' line, and gave him the list of instore special MIRs and IRs. He said its for next week b/c one line said : some MIR is not available for sneak preview. WELL, Y does it matter? if its sneak preview, he can still give me IR, and let me worry about MIR. Then I was really mad, i said, i got it saturday, so the ad is for this week, and the epson MIR is only valid for this week, and its on the ad, so it must be this week!!!! what's an idiot!

Anyways, got his name and number ( i think he gave me the fake name b.c he used someone else's card to write his name on...shouldnt he have his own?) Can someone please direct me to get this deal in the store? This is the only store in the area.

I'm Looking at the OfficeMax site on 9/2 and it still says the price is 129.99 ~ Is there somewhere that says this instant rebate deal online? I'm afraid to do this deal at 129.99.

I've already printed out the CenDyne MIR and the Khypermedia MIRS (I'm going to try Henny's deal)

Could anyone tell me where it says the instant rebate deal? I've never done any ordering from OM online ::sheepish grin::

You need to either call them up and tell them about the ad (have them pricematch their own add), or email them showing the add and that you want that price. You should have no problem doing either of these, but it might be easier on the phone (that way there won't be any screw ups on their part).

Oh the wonders of the modern telephone...

I was pissed after local B&M store wouldn't give the coupon. After searching at another local OM store, I saw that they were out AND they didn't have any of the same deals (especially since models may vary). At the Circuitcity, they had plenty of the Cendyne III. Well wouldn't you know, I couldn't pricematch because the local OM was the one w/o the specials. It sucked, driving pretty far for that....

Well, I know that yesterday, they still had the I/O Magic. Because models varied, I would choose this one after the Cendyne. I didn't order it, thinking I could get the Cendyne. Well, I called them today, and they're out of the I/O Magic. No big deal...Luckily, the woman said that they still had the Polaroids. I'm not such a stiff that a few seconds in burning (Liteon drives, etc.) will care, so I bought it at 49.99.

This is the problem some people are having. They're not going to give you the low price if the closest B&M store doesn't have the same price. You might be able too, but they have some pretty slick advertising practices.

I thought the 19.99 deal would be good, but then I called OM back. I asked if I could use the 20 off 50 from Office Depot. Evidently, the woman had processed a few of these, because she knew it was this one. I bought some paper clips to get above 50 dollars, and w/o any proof I had the coupon (fax, URL, etc.), she applied it! I was happy, after all that work, to get a free CDRW drive. Who cares who makes it if it's free! If it were like the TDK VeloCD, this would be different...

so is this the zipcode you guys use, 78502?

"(*ALERT* : the zip code on the Cendyne CDRW rebate form is incorrect, the correct zip is "78502")" ?

Just bought one, pretty bummed, it's NOT A LITE-ON Darn Verbatim drive Model: vbt401248a

Was hoping to flash a lite-on to 48x.... oh well, I managed to use the OD instore coupon bringing my drive to $42.xx after taxes and still I'll get the $40 MIR

Bought it at the Blaine (Northtown) OfficeMax....

-TAL

EDIT: Successfully upgraded this drive to a Lite-on 48x with VS06 firmware... Hooray!

Here's how I got the deal: Called OM 800 #.... Pressed one and spoke with someone... Gave them my info and then the SKU. They said, ok, "$99.99" and I said, "It should have a 40 instant rebate according to your memphis ad on the front page. They took awhile, and came back, finally saying, ok, then the total is "$59.99" I then asked the sales person to put the order on "Pending Status" (Hold). Also, I said, I need to have someone sign off on this order, so can you send me a fax copy of the order showing price etc. They did this (Actually, they e-mailed it cause fax dept was closed.) I took this to my B&M OM store, told them that the folks at the 800 # said to complete my order at the B&M because the B&M did not show any of the drives in stock... The manager came over, and after trying to figure out the e-mail, he allowed the cashier to drop the price to $59.99. Then I mentioned that I had an Office Depot $20 off $50. He smiled and said alright. I asked if he had any other drives in the back, and he said: "Don't push it. I'm being more than generous." I agreed and went smiling on my way. -TAL

For those of you looking for an ad that is closer than memphis, here is a list of the markets where I found the deal advertised. The market code (I assume that is what it stands for) is the code listed after the mkt= in the url of the ad page.
AA, AB, AC, BA, BB, BC, CA, CB, CC, DA, DB, DC

By looking through the links for the ads in my state I found one that had mkt=BC.
The link works better if you exclude the cookie part of the url: BC Link

Ok, people are talking about ordering this over the phone, HOW are you ordering it over the phone? with an 800 #, or do you order with your local store? because my crappy local store doesnt have any of these deals.

Just got me a 40x cendyne (liteon).

First, I printed out the price from staples website, and the $20 off $50.

Second I went to officemax and pm'd the drive at $99 to $79.99(I wish buy.com or some other store had it
for $69). They somewhat hasseled me and said they'd have to call it in, the floor asst manger
had to call it in to verify.
I told him that the 79.98 was before the $30 rebate from staples.
He comes back and pm'd it to 79.98.

Third, Then, I say, "She said you accept competitors coupons." (The register lady). He says, well its either
one or the other. Well I say "can I see where this is stated in your store policy?" He says "yeah, its in our
price guarantee/pm policy...".
which it did not state in the text..I read it twice. He says "I can go and
ask the manager if you want.." I say ok. He asks...and I get the coupon applied. Geez...

So, the drive is $59 out the door with a $40 rebate to $19..for a liteon 40x...not too bad eh? I could have gotten it for $10, but couldn't find anyone with it in stock at $69 oh well

I know the 4-digit code for the OM $25 off $100, but do I need to go find it and print it out or can I have the register girl just enter the code?

Beat this:

Bring the ad to local OM, the store manager price match the Cendyne to $39.99 (this is IOMagic price), have to add 15.00 HiVal CDR to bring the total to 54.99, apply OD $20 coupon, final price

$39.99 (Cendyne)
$15.00 (HiVal)
-$20.00 (OD coupon)
-$40.00 (Cendyne MIR)
-$15.00 (HiVal MIR)
---------------------------
-$20.01

The manager use the I/O Magic price, in that ad, it should be:

$99.99 - $60 instant rebate - $20 mail-in rebate = $19.99
2017-0011 ---------------------------------------------------------- This is for I/O Magic, before MIR price $39.99
$99.99 - $50 instant rebate - $30 mail-in rebate = $19.99
2017-0011 ---------------------------------------------------------- This is for Polaroid, before MIR price $49.99
$99.99 - $40 instant rebate - $40 mail-in rebate = $19.99
2016-0442 ---------------------------------------------------------- This is for Cendyne, before MIR price $59.99

So if you bring ad to local OfficeMax, you have a good chance to get $39.99 price for the Cendyne. Especially, if your printed ad is not clear.

Excellent deal mysticman!! I wasn't able to get in on your last CDRW sale like this that you posted, but I got in on this one. I called yesterday and when I gave the item number the guy gave me the $99-instant rebate price automatically without me even asking. Unfortunately he said they are out of stock for the cendyne drives, so I got one of the others. No biggie for me personally, its for a family computer so its not a big deal. The first time I called (two days ago) they refused to give me the price because they said the ad wasn't in my area.

Anyway, I got it shipped to my door for like $50 some odd, then I can use a $30 mail in rebate. Good stuff, thanks again mystic man.

If I use my friend's name and address as shipping address but use my own name and address as billing address, would that cost any problem for the rebates? Who's name and address should I put on the rebate?

Thank you for your time,
Howard
