FYI..... there were a few members here that actually got their big screen Plasma screens for $350.00 from Dell. Considering the price was supposed to be around $10,000.00, I'd say the idiots were the ones that did not jump on it. One guy here got (3) of them for $350.00 each. Something for you thread crappers to think about. There are the pics somewhere in the archives as proof.

Of course that was back when the members had enought common sense not to call DELL and ask if it was a price mistake.

what crack are you smoking? it's called a pricing error and their website clearly states they aren't responsible for pricing errors.

Actually..... some of you should read the archives with regard to what we did to Value America, once upon a time.
I have some letters (copies are in the archives) that went direct to all of the board of directors for the company. It was sneaky, and wrotten, and now I will never be allowed in heaven...... but, I did get everything I wanted. I received all of my items at the prices they listed, even though they were indeed price errors. In addition they were forced to give the $150 promo for the accounts that were opened with them (gee, some here actually had more than one account..... many, many more...... imagine that). The effect was so powerful that once shared, it was devastating to the CEO of the company. The key was to locate all of the board of directors for the company and obtain their personal email address's as well as direct line phone numbers. Needless to say..... Value America is no more.

To push, generally only works with larger companies. They have retained attorney's who are paid very well to keep them out of hot water. But if push comes to shove, and you are dealing with a company that can not afford to fold, you generally will get the price advertised, mistake or not. The smaller companies just say scr&w you, and of course would just as soon file a BK then to take a loss.
Ironically, Value America ended up doing both.

I just cancelled my Dell orders.

I got a call from AMEX BVG.

It seems that someone who read this thread has faxed this thread to AMEX CSRs. They have called tech.... and found that the price was an error. PM Denied!

WTF!? Is this true? Why the hell would someone do this? Jealous that someone has BVG? This was probably the same person that runs Ebay auctions and sells information to deals for $5 a pop. I want to strangle these people.

Seriously.. Let me know if this is true or not. I have to cancel my Dell order if AMEX is not going to honor this BVG.

TIA,

Sal

What a fu**in loser. You are the reasonthat people get screwed over on deals. YOu were basically hunting them donw one by one, and "picking them off" all so that you can have your way. You were probably born with a silver spoon in your mouth and you know no other way to live, but than to cry until you get your way.

Okay, today is the day for possible a miracle. I'll be checking my email at work frequently just waiting for those simple words, "Your order has been shipped."

My order still shows as "open" I don't know what that means, let's keep our eyes open and see what happen. Waiting for waiting for the miracle words "on the truck" or "shipped".

Sounds like someone is playing a late april fools joke..

why would Amex BVG call you?? If they are going to deny your bvg then they'll send you a letter not call you a few minute after your fax....

I spoke with a BVG CSR and asked them if the price went up later would they deny my claim. The CSR said no.

Quit trying to scare us

Remember that hindsight is a lot stronger than foresight . I remember the ValueAmerica days very well. Apparently their CSRs even encouraged people to open multiple accounts. As interesting and powerful as the Anandtech Hot Deals affect is I really doubt that it was enough to drive them out of business. There was far more wrong with that company.

any legal minds out there? i picked this interesting tidbit out of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act:
section 17.46(b)
(11) Making false or misleading statements of fact concerning the reasons for, existence of, or amount of price reductions.
This section has three parts. The first prohibits misleading advertisements about the reasons for price reductions; for example, a store that advertises "going out of business sales" every few months.

The second also prohibits misleading statements about the existence of price reductions. A seller cannot advertise that prices are being reduced by 50 percent unless the item has previously been offered by the same seller at the stated regular price. Likewise, sellers cannot advertise that prices are marked 50 percent off suggested retail price unless the representation is accurate.

The third prohibits misrepresentations about the amount of price reductions. When a seller advertises "X percent lower prices," those representations must be true.

now i'm thinking maybe the third one could apply?
