They're both correct .

The online version is fine. Just fill out the online form (which is better than the printed version anyway, since you can easily track your rebate that way) and submit that. I believe they will take the printed version starting the 14th, but why chance it?

As for not giving us the rebate on the coupon items, I just don't believe it. There are some CSR's who seem to want to interpret things on their own. I wonder if this is the same CSR who hassled another posted about the coupon?

Bill: Yeah, i know i can use the online rebate form, but isn't anyone wary about the difference in dates with the rebate form that I got from staples B&M? Here are the addresses on the rebate forms:

Now, it's clear that they are sent to the same department. But why the different purchase dates? Isn't this scanner deal one of the President's day deals? If it is, then shouldn't it start on Feb 17 (which corresponds to the B&M rebate form)?

Sorry for being paranoid, just don't want to screw up a $80 rebate...

Nothing but success with my staples rebates. Have gotten 100% of them and usually within 1 1/2 months at the most, usually a lot sooner. Too bad I can't say the same for other rebates I have sent in. Staples rebates are the only rebates I fully trust. I like that I can track them online also.

This clearly indicates that it is a manufacturer rebate and as such they could not disallow a discount that Staples allows on any merchandise they carry ($15 off $100 purchase). If the coupon was specific to the product then they could deny the rebate. Otherwise they would be able to disallow the rebate because Staples offers free shipping on orders over $50.

That's a good point, and I think Staples does differentiate "product-specific" coupons from "general" ones.
Well, one thing is for sure -- with this deal posted everywhere on the internet, Staples would have to deal with a lot of pissed-off customers if they disallow the full $80 rebate with the $20 off coupon.

yeah, i just got in on this deal this morning, and i would be very very very unhappy if i didn't get my $80 rebate, because by that time it's unreturnable, and i would have just spent $80 on a scanner i didn't wnat to spend that much on. So does anyone know for sure if the $80 rebate will go through or aren't we sure?

This whole coupon/rebate thing comes up on every Staples deal that's posted I think. All I can tell you is that I have done coupon/rebate combos on almost every Staples order I've placed and I've received all rebates without a problem. That's probably true of almost everyone on this board. If anyone has had theirs denied in the past for using a coupon I haven't seen anything posted about it. YMMV of course. And who knows, some day Staples may start denying them.

buybye, you are correct that this subject always comes up. I wouldn't be surprised if they start denying them either considering how many people call and ask the csr's about using a coupon in conjunction with a rebate. Sooner or later they'll probably tell their rebate center to start rejecting them.

If you're not comfortable using a coupon when a rebates involved, then don't use the coupon. The item will cost you alittle more but you'll get your rebate, right?

If you want to use a coupon and be assured of getting your rebate, nothing any of us can say is gonna convince you of this until you try it yourself. I can say the same thing that many others have said, I've never had a rebate rejected when using a coupon.

I thought about this one for a while, but decided not to. My rule of thumb is that if it's not a decent bargain
without the rebate, then don't bother. This is just too big of a rebate, and there is too much chance
that rebate center (who often lack CSRS you can actually talk to) will deny it for some trumped up
crap.

found a printable $15 off, headed to staples. They had like 100 of these things just lying around marked $99, no mention of rebate
I go over grab some pens pencils and a surge protector, grab the scanner, and go check out. $127 after the 15 rebate, i look and see i grabbed some wrong pens that cost $13, so i gave it back rite away and got the $ back, so now i'm home with $113 out of my pocket (well out of AMEX). Gonna PM it later get $40 back for the scanner, and a rebate will make this whole shinding give me $7. Cool! Thanx AT'ers! BTW, i just sent the guy who wanted a coupon a linky to the site (well i upped it to my own space) ENJOY!
