At this point I'd be surprised if it doesn't go through. Were this Gateway or Best Buy I'd still have serious doubts, but being Fry's/Outpost I think there's a very good chance of this completing successfully.

I got my confirmation too. Thanks OP!

I have had two previous transactions with Outpost. In the first I got this confirmation followed by another email that said it shipped. The shipping email came the next day after the confirmation.

In the other transaction I got the confirmation email followed by a cancellation email. So my guess is that even if you have the confirmation email, its still up in the air. However, in that deal some people that ordered early got the product. I was late in that case so mine was cancelled.

Yeah, got one last night right after the order, and then one this afternoon confirming and thanking me for the order. I felt like replying and saying, "NO, thank YOU!"

It does a credit availability check on your card, and also makes sure you are allowed to order that item (for items that have product limits associated to them).

If you get the confirmation, it means you pass the two checks above


It does not check whether it is in stock. You have to wait for the shipping email to find that out.

I have had SO DAMN many things canceled this year, it's pathetic. I ordered 5 x800pro's before I got one shipped to me. Just had to cancel two Dell 8400's (with the free 19in LCD's) last week because Dell couldn't ship them until four weeks after In placed my order (God, I swear I hate Dell with a passion). And too many others to remember.

They pull this crap way too often. They do not have REAL TIME inventory tracking. Funny thing is, I called right after my order was placed and was told they had it in stock. Easily the WORST e-tailer out there imho.

but why are you people complaining? before you all made the order, it clearly said unvailable on their website. it doesn't matter if you called in about it or not. the point is, it was NEVER available for that price.

the problem here, in this particularly case, is not with outpost...but with you money grubbing cheap bas tards.

Exactly. If I were you, I would call, tell your story, and raise hell if they don't live up to their price. Don't foget to use the F word when necessary, proper ettiquette is to wait at least 7 minutes into the call before using it though.

in either case, i expected most of you to have been smart enough know that your order was likely to be canceled.
