ack. the cust serv emailed me back. basically a big F-U on me asking for the 50 dollar shipping charge back, but offered me a 50 dollar concession.

better than nothing i guess. and i buy enough crap from dell anyway... oh well

Yes, Dell is usually very pessimistic on their delivery estimates. You'll probably get it earlier than that.

Yea that is screwed up of dell, I didnt have shipping on my purchase when I went to check out price but now it is in my email saying that I was charged it.

i know that part, but there's something called click history that has in the past been fairly real-time. I would click a store and it would show in my "click history" that i clicked on that store.

I got both order and confirm emails. Funny thing was it showed NO tax at checkout or order email, but they added tax in my confirm email. That's a bit peeving. Luckily the guy I bought it for seems to be not too daunted by the extra $50.

Actually, the trick is to record ALL of the revenues NOW and then expense away the coupons slowly next quarter.. Gotta love earnings management.

Great math skills BoKingWen And the average laptop to QUALIFY for this deal would have to be a bare minimum of $750, not $600. And that's revenue, not gross profit, that Dell got. We don't know the profit margins off these laptops (for obvious reasons) but I'm sure they made a decent profit out of this.

are you kidding me. i know enough about the industry to know that dell lost a ton of money on this.

those components arent magically super cheap for them. they did this to meet revenue estimates, or to move excess inventory. thats all. it'll be written off as a loss no big deal.

I was about as close as I could get but didn't buy one. Not saying it wasn't an awesome deal but I just don't need another laptop & even though I'd love to have a new one I know that I'd have buyers remorse the minute I opened it up & turned it on.

There's a point where you just gotta say NO!

I'll admit though, that I was kicking myself for not going through with it but now that I've really thought about it I'm happy I didn't.
