Next best thing to an SSD for your laptop.
IMO a noticable improvement from the WD 5400rpm drive.

Great deal to use with a set top box media player like a patriot box office too. Nice find.

Hm, I think you can get these for cheaper on ebay practically brand new-- people take their netbook drive out and upgrade it to an SSD.
But having an easy link is nice from a reputable seller.

I actually bought mine from buy.com off ebay....$60 after waiting for my 8% bing. I won't buy used hdds.

Same here. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I won't buy used HDDs, either.

This looks like a good deal and I'm probably going to bite on it. My notebook sure could use a faster HDD.

Thanks OP.

I won't buy used HD's irregardless of the circumstances. A seller may tell you it's brand new and was replaced by an SSD but you have absolutely no way of verifying this. Given the rampant theivery these day, I prefer not to take a chance.

No loss at all to me.

They aren't used, people pull them from a brand new netbook and put an SSD in.
Your loss.

Really? I don't feel a loss, and a quick search at the bay shows none of these "like new" drives you speak of....but to each their own.

I'm sure you'll find me a link though .

Forgot to remind everyone, this hard drive has a 5 year warranty as well!

Also, the pulled drives from netbooks typically only have a 1 year manufacturer warranty or sometimes none at all as it's only covered by the OEM.

yeah, but data failure really doesn't bother me on a notebook. I do all my real work on my desktop, so I just need something to store stuff. You can set up shared folders that update each other through the network with whatever's most recent so that the drive failing isn't a problem.

This. When it comes to hard drives, it should be new and nothing else if you're paying for them. I've purchased a few used, under warranty drives, and they always end up costing more in the long run with RMAs back and forth to the manufacturer.

It just isn't worth saving 10 bucks to buy it from someone used. Also, as others have stated, OEMs commonly don't provide a warranty longer than 1 year (if any at all), which means you have little assurance of getting it replaced if it is worth RMA-ing.

Good deal OP. Now looking to see if there is a 360 hack for this.

Hmmm, good point, i don't have a hard drive yet for my Xbox360 Arcade. This Black Edition drive will be replacing my WD 250GB 5400RPM drive. I wonder if i can buy an enclosure and make that 250GB my Xbox one?

I bought this drive for the sole purpose of putting it in my Xbox and it worked great. For the price and what Microsoft wants it was well worth it.
