He then proceeded to tell me that these drives were refurbished and that they wouldnt do it. So I called MC and verfified they were not refurbished drives. He then said, as I showed him my print out of the MC web page, that I needed an actuall printed add for him to do it... low and behold I had one in my back pocket. I whipped it out for him and he looked puzzled for a bit and took my add to show to his managers... when he returned he resorted to simply saying that he would not honor the price "because it was too low and they didnt understand how MC could be selling them that cheap". I asked him if that wasnt a clear violation of their price match policy and a case of false advertising. He shrugged and said that he saw my point so and I asked to speak to the managers but was told that they were busy. Needless to say the store and the names of their managers got reported to their corperate office.... if Im not satisfied with their response Im going to file a complaint with the Dept of consumer affairs. well... I bought thew drives anyways cause they were the ONLY 2 left in my area. I tried price matching it another store but was toold the MC was too far away (20mins) and that I would have to go to a closer BB even though there is a BBB 5 mins away from the MC but still it was far for me. So I got to the next BB closer to the MC and they were happy to ring me up... funny thing is that the MC add has 259 with a big red X throught it and says next to it "save $110. I guess BB cant even hire decent help cause he PMed it at $110...

so, 2 drives @ $96 each and $240 in MIBs = priceless.... literally... funny? arent I?

so I guess it was worth all the driving around for 3 hrs and dealin with law-braking BB managers in the end.

please lodge a complain, I think that would be a good thing to do.....

I wish I had a microcenter around here..... or that om would come back into stock

No, they DID NOT take away your coupon! Your order will be $199.99 and then you'll get a credit of $89 for the total of $110 before $100 MIR. This is the BEST deal you can get on this drive, and it gets even better if you use Ebates for another 3% off which is what I did

PM'd a second drive at BB. Not a big hassle. Spoke to the cute returns girl , she checked out the printed ad and description, talked to another returns person about it, and was all ready to do it until she saw the price difference. She called the manager over and he took at look at the paperwork, asked me where a Microcenter was, and approved the PM without a problem. Rebates print out and the girl smiles and says, "Wow, you saved another $20!". Then I noticed the $100 rebate print out, but didn't mention it to her . So she staples all the rebates, hands me the rebates and hard drive, and tell me to have a nice day.

BTW, I had called BB at the open, and asked if they had any drives left, the guy said, "No, we're getting a shipment tonight, so check tonight.". Undaunted, I checked the store anyway and they had 2 drives sitting on the shelf. :Q Huh.

I put in two PM request, one on Sat. (without buying the drive), for a PM using Compuplus.com, that PM didn't go though because by Monday the Hard drive had been removed from the web site, so there was nothing to PM.
The second PM I did Sunday night using Microcenter.com after I order the hard drive sunday morning around 2 AM pst. (by then the HD was already on backorder) I received the PM approve email tuesday morning.
So, my deal looks like this :
Western Digital 120GB HD $249.99 + a FAR 10 pack of CDR jewel cases $3.00 = $252.99 - $50 off $250 officeMax coupon = $202.99 order total - $89.00 for the PM - $100 MIR - $3.00 jewel cases MIR = $10.99 total cost.
But If they remove my $50 coupon then it would be $149.99 + $11.99 shipping = $160.99 - $100 MIR = $60.99 total. That's still not a bad price.
All I need Now is for OfficeMax to actually ship me a Hard drive. :frown:
Well at least I can now concentrate on getting hard drive #2 with a Best Buy PM and rebate.
If someone hears that Best Buy has restocked their West L.A. stores PM me.

Look. I placed my order friday with the 50 off coupon. It was showing in my basket and the hard drive was showing up as $249.99.. I did the pm via the internet form. It took about 2 days. Now when I go to my order the hard drive is howing up at $161 and my 50 discount now says $00.00...

Can you just verify that your hard drive is howing up at $161 and your $50 discount is still showing up?

Here's a email I received this morning from OM :

Thank you for shopping OfficeMax.com

Currently we are not able to process your complete order due to the
following items being backordered.

Sku Description Price
20148555 120GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive 160.99

We should be receiving the backordered item(s) within 3 - 4 days and
will process these items at that time. The items not currently
backordered will be processed and shipped as soon as possible.

Your order total is $ 123.11, and your confirmation number is 9XXXXXX

This is from my on-line order receipt :

$163.99 Subtotal
$9.12 Tax
$0.00 Delivery
$50.00 Discount
$123.11 Grand Total

As you can see my order still shows the $50 coupon I used.
Did you get a similar email?

Anybody know what pieces of the box go where? I see two barcodes on the box:

1) One that says 'WDC Serial Number' with a barcode.

2) One that looks like it's an extension of the capacity label, and says "Model:WD1200BBRTL", "Proof of Purchase", and has a yellow shaded box to the right detailing the drive's specs (8.9ms seek time, 2mb buffer size, ata100)

So which is "original upc from the box" (for the $20 bb rebate), and which is the "capacity label cut from the front of the box" (for the $100 wd rebate)?

I have a BIG question.

Went to OM, they pricematched it to $149 and were clueless about the rebate. I know OM prints out little addition receipts for rebates and I figured they would catch on when it printed. So I got a free after rebate item (wish they had more in stock, but only some pencils) and rang up at like $164 including tax and I pay with Visa, sign. Kid then, as he grabs the receipts, looks carefully because there were 2 rebate reciepts. He looks up the rebate in the book and I act clueless and says he can't give me the rebate receipt for the drive because they already discounted it, I act dumb and he gives me the main receipt which I signed and also the little dinky rebate receipt for the pencils. He keeps the dinky rebate receipt for the drive.

Rebate form I have from OM as well as the online submission at rebateshq.com don't state the requirement for a special little receipt. Think I can get the rebate, any tips?

I hope I'm not mistaken, but I think the capacity label is the yellow "120 GB WD HD" on the bottom of the front side of the package. And I think the barcode is on the underside of the package, attacked to the capacity label.

Also, over at rebateshq, there's a box to fill in for the online form that you can fillout and print.

The box says "Capacity Label: __________________ "

what should I type in there?

I went to BB Sunday to get in on this deal and was rejected. I have a MC loacally but my MC is out of stock on the 120gig drive so BB would not price match the drive :-( I asked the lady to show me where it said the other store had to have the product in stock and she did. She even gave me the little paper and highlited it, how nice of her. So who knows when my MC will get this drive back in stock. Who knows, maybe I can still get in on this deal one day.

Before I went to OM, I spoke for a while with a guy at BB (Tri County, Cincinnati) and they are out of stock there. Best Buy's pricematch policy says they won't match a price if their price is lower after mail in rebates. If you do get it, good for you, you scammed Best Buy, if not though, its not because someone is screwing you. I just got kinda sick of hearing people say that they got screwed or calling the people doing their jobs A holes.

Edit: I am wrong. I was thinking Office Max. Apologies, thanks for correction Mystic.

Then what is that little white sticker on the bottom that says "WDC Serial Number" with the barcode then? (confused, since that barcode that indicates the model number is actually part of the capacity label sticker.

There's should be a 1-800 number on the rebate form to contact the rebate center if you have questions about the rebate.

The rebate receipt that prints out at the register is just to save the customer the trouble of having to make a copy of the receipt to send in with the rebate form. You can make a copy of your receipt and send that in with your rebate form and your're good to go.

Go back and buy the hard drive before they are sold out, then keep calling MC to see if they have restocked the HD. The sale ends Sat. but BB's low guaranteed is good for 30 or 15 days after purchase (I don't know when the BB rebates have to be postmarked). So as long as MC does rise the price of the drive, you will still be able to do the PM. If it dosen't work out return the drive for a refund with in the return period.

frankqfrank.....
Best Buy's pricematch policy says they won't match a price if their price is lower after mail in rebates
Here's BB policy, where does is say that?
In-Store Price Guarantee ? If, within 30 days (14 days for computers, monitors, printers and notebooks, camcorders, digital cameras and radar detectors) of your purchase from Best Buy, you find a local competitor offering a lower price on an available product of the same brand and model, we'll refund the difference plus another 10% of the difference. Bring us verification of the lower price, plus your original Best Buy receipt to claim your refund. Does not apply to special, bonus or free offers, and in California cellular phones and pagers. Does not apply to products with special financing offers. For complete price guarantee details, please see a customer service representative. We reserve the right to limit quantities. See store for complete details.

Can you do both rebates to the same name/address? One $100 MIR for best buy and one $100 MIR for office max? or are they the same rebate since it's a WD Rebate?
