I talked my local OM manager into accepting the 40/200 online coupon. In order to apply the $40 off he manually marked down the drive by $40. But the cash register would automatically change the price back up so that I was only getting a $20 credit. He was perplexed, he'd never seen that before. He said he did not have any generic coupon codes he could use instead. Bummer, the guy was willing but the machine wasn't.

Well, to those who think the drive won't ship in time for the rebates, it may turn like the Dell deal where they either a.) talk to WD/staples and fix the coupons to say withing 14 days of shipment, and thenthey will requie a copy ofthe invoice, or b.) they WILL deliver the drives on time or they will credit your account for the rebates you never got. In that case, just be sure to call. Either way, they are REALLY being nice about it, and are accomodating. So be nice to the CSR's... whoever said te CSRsounded stressed.

My drive arrived today!   W00t!!

And it is the 8MB cache version in the new plastic box.

While I am certain all the rebates will eventually fly for either the 8MB or 2MB versions, the one piece of documentation that would make it iron-clad is something that says either Omax item #2034-6127 or 2014-8555 is in fact the SE model. Both those item numbers appear in the flyer claiming $59 after rebates. I had hoped the item number appeared on the B&M store receipt but it doesn't, only the name and UPC. The latest paper catalog doesn't list the SE model so its no help. Oh well, as soon as it goes back on the website I can print the page showing the item number there.

The WD MIR I'm looking at just calls for you to send the capacity label from the retail package. In addition, the OM form states that copies of the receipt and UPC are acceptable.

Well I just ordered this over the phone, the 8mb is on backorder.
My area doesn't offer the discounted price, so the phone was my only option. My total came to $118. 51 + $80 in MIR and i'll be paying $38.51.
Not bad, as long as I get it sent to me before the rebates expire.
Now all I need is a good Dell deal to put the HD into.

First offf, make copies of everything. This is where a scanner comes in handy. Next read the rebate and follow closely. Read the fine print, they usually have a phone number or website where you can check status. If it doesn't come in the alloted time, contact the company. If they give you any grief, or they still don't send your check in timely fashion, contact the Attorney General of the state where the company is located. Sometimes you can even file a complaint online. The Better Business Bureau is another option. I've found the Attorney General's office scares the heck out of companies and usually works.

I've got every rebate I ever sent. Only about five percent or less require drastic measures like contacting the authorities. Usually the first contact works like a charm. I would say 60 to 70 percent come without me doing anything except waiting.

Talked to Manager in store about my 30% coupon ... he said it's only online.
I ask if I can order online for store pickup, no, only for delivery.
I ask if I can call the 800 number and ask about it, he says sure
I talk, the Lady knows imidiatly what I talk about, yes the drive is not available online anymore
Can I use the coupon in store... Lady says up to stores discresion.
I hand the phone over, he talks with her for 20 sec.
Sure, we can apply it.

Went to Wolfchase OM in Memphis Mon. Asked mgr. if any 120gb WD drives were left. He said "No." He called another local store and had 1 shipped over. Called me Tue. to tell me it was there. Went by Tue. to purchase hdd + surge protector outlet strip + canned air to get my purchase over $150 and use $30 online coupon. Different mgr. said no go at first on using $30 coupon. I said I really wanted to use the coupon and had read somewhere ;-) that you could. He said if I could print out something to bring him he'd honor it. Printed out coupon from the plump purse site just now. Will take it by tomorrow.

PM'ed at BB & at CC ($60 each). So for $150 I picked up 360GB of storage. I'll probably sell 2 of the 3 and make a little money and have another 120GB of storage.

edit - all the rebates go to different addresses so i think i'll be ok

WOW!! Went last night in area Nashville to check this out. The Western Digital 120GB w/ 8MB was going for $60!!!! 1/2 OFF!! But they were gone of course! In FACT the lady told me that EVERY STORE in ALL of the immediate Nashville were sold out! These are going fast. So I'm going to have to wait til she calls me back tonight or tomorrow with the new shipment! Great deal guys, and thanks MysticMan1 for the post!

WOOT! Scored one today with the 30 off 150, they had a couple left still (Highlands Ranch, CO). Manager was extremely nice, had no problem with the coupon, told him that I wanted to buy it online, but that it was not available any more. Got the 50pk of CDRs and the compressed air can as well to come up to 150. I paid about 130 for this same drive about a year ago from Dell, and that was a deal of the century then! Now under 30 WOW. Still an awesome drive, did not have any problems with the current one.
