Where do you get this $30.00 off OfficeMax Coupon? What does FAR mean? Thanks.

FAR = Free After Rebate

I'm still not sure where people are getting the $30 off $150 coupon from, still waiting for help on that one.

Got mine today - I think it will work fine, but the "Data Lifeguard" utility seems useless for me. Always freezes up on the "checking for free disk space" for some reason - so I never get to partition and format it.

Guess I'll have to resort to fdisk and format rather than their utility. Anyone else encounter this?

Curious, was yours OOS, and they shipped it today?

As for formatting, if you got win2k/XP, use disk manager to format it. Otherwise use fdisk, or partition magic (since it lets you make other partition types like for linux or whatever.)

I called for a order status, and they told me if it doesn't arrive by 5/31 then you can't do the rebates...

Picked up a special edition one in Ann Arbor today, using the staples 30 off 150 printable.

They were all out when I called on Monday, so I'm guessing they got another shipment.

Added some other stuff. Total of $126.13 out the door. With rebates, should be $36.13. I like!

Oh, the rebate receipt says I paid $110 for the HD. Will there be any problems with the rebate? Thanks.

I bought the drive with a FAR item but my OM had it on clearance so it came out to less then 150 but the cashier applied the 30 of 150 coupon anyway. Will this cause any problem?

I've never had a problem with a rebate no matter what I paid for the product. I mean, I've gotten rebates where I stood to make $20+ after the rebate according to the receipt. There is nothing written on the rebates that says that getting a rebate is dependent on what you paid for the item.

I wanted to know why people are sweating the rebates with this drive? I just looked at both forms and neither rebate form mentions that you have to buy the WD1200BBRTL drive as opposed to the JBRTL "SE" drive. Where are people seeing the UPC codes? The multi item sheet for the $30 rebate just says "a Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive" and the $50 MIR for OM/WD says "Buy ANY Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive".

There shouldn't be a problem.

The UPC code is listed at the rebate place, not on the paper forms. See my post above for more info.

My argument for this information is how am I supposed to know about it? It's not listed on either rebate forms that I'm submitting. Besides, Officemax is the one that sold me a JB "SE" drive instead of the BB drive on the same promotion.

If it's being dealt with through rebateshq, it's probably easy to overcome even if you do get denied initially. I've had a few rebates come up as invalid and all the CSR did was ask what the UPC code was and then validated my rebate on the spot. I guess you could just have the BB 2mb cache UPC handy and read that one off if push came to shove. I highly doubt that we'll have a problem with this rebate though.

Just got my SE HD, cd-rw, and 100 cd-pack delivered today. The driver was UPS and he didn't even require a signature (he just rang the doorbell and ran) or a coupon even though the receipt inside clearly said driver ask for coupon. Also, i am just gonna mail that OM 30 rebate even though it doesn't allow SE model. I included a scan of the page of the ad flyer (the entire page) as well as a zoom in from the same page of the HD along with a note stating the discrepency (did i spell that right?).
Good Luck

Awesome deal, thanks. I ordered yesterday morning before going to work (no wait on the phone at 6:30 AM), and my drive was here when I got home this evening. Delivered 36 hours after it was ordered, not bad! I got the 3 40GB platter version, but for $35.84 I really can't complain.

Yeah I agree. Rebateshq has been good for the last several rebates I've sent. I bought the 80 gig WD from OM earlier this month. I checked online today and it said the rebate was invalid due to item being puchased outside the correct dates. That's totally wrong of course. I called then up, the person asked what day I bought the item, I told her 5/5/03 and she validated the rebate on the spot. None of this "fax in a copy" BS. I checked the status online 5 minutes later and it said the rebate was valid and processing. So rebateshq gets thumbs up from me so far.

I said I really wanted to use the coupon and had read somewhere ;-) that you could. He said if I could print out something to bring him he'd honor it. Printed out coupon from the plump purse site just now. Will take it by tomorrow.

Both mgrs. very nice. Hope it works!

Just to follow up. Went in tonite w/$30 off $150 om coupon. Same mgr. was there as yesterday. They took the coupon. I added canned air + 6 outlet strip (both are free after mir). So the math is:

$139.99 shelf price - 30.00 om mir - 50.00 wd mir - 30.00 coupon = $29.99 + tx on $109.99.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Got mine from my Local OM yesterday. Just make sure you ask if they don't have any on the shelf. My store had ONLY the SE drives locked up in the back room and he said they had plenty of them.

Got one also. CSR said that there was only one left at the Everett WA store. Had them hold it for me along with a 50pk of CDRs to get over $150 so I could use the $30 off $150 coupon. Anyway when I went to pick up the drive, another person that I saw wondering around the store also had them go and the back to get one. Don't know how many they have left, but anyone near Seattle interested may want to check it out.

Exactly my experiences with rebateshq. They usually ask me to read off a UPC code number and then verify my name and address. Then, they validate my rebate on the spot. Couldn't be easier. The PITA rebates are those from Circuit City or Best Buy IMO. I have two outstanding rebates right now. 1 $14 rebate at BB and one $10 rebate at CC. Both of them have me waiting a couple of weeks before they even investigate my rebate submission. Then, I have to hold my breath again and wait for them to cut a check. Neither of these rebates are big enough to worry about, but it's just the principle of it.

One word of advice I can give to rebate newbie's is to make copies of everything that you submit and keep thorough records. It will really come in handy when and if you have a problem with a rebate.

I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep that coupon some place along with the rebate information in case OM decides to take the $30 off your card at some point. I highly doubt that it would happen though, so I wouldn't bother sending it in. It happened to me before where they said that the driver was going to ask for the coupon and they never did. It was never mentioned again either.

Ok I'm sure this has been posted already but this thread is too massive to have to read through again just to find out the answer.

First off I have the 120GB se that came in the plastic box, on the backside of the paper box is a "proof of purchase #1" and "proof of purchase #2", both of which are right behind the capacity label on the otherside of the paper.

My question is do I just cut out each of them and send one of them to each place? Or do I send one place the capacity label to WD (that's what it asks for) and the bar code/UPC to officemax?

I'm sure these are pretty stupid question but I do not want to screw it up so I'm just double checking.

Thanks

I wished the dude at my OM would have been that nice. I do have a physical coupon that the manager when I first tried to get it said no, phone/online only.

Today I got the stuff that was in, but HD says backordered.

Funny that they want the UPC off the can for the $3 rebate.. maybe I will get out my tourch. LOL

For those of you that got it at the store, did you just call OM (HQ) up, then say that the stuff is in stock at the local branch, and if I can I get the stuff at the local place instead? (So in this case, return the stuff, have them credit it, then rebuy everything again?)

sounds like most of you are succeeding with the B&M deal. i had a 120SE transferred up to my location and it arrived today, but when I tried to use a staples 30off150 coupon the manager rejected it since the closest staples is a 1.5hr drive away... so then i tried using a phone coupon code, no go again since didn't have printout (the lady wasn't cutting me any slack). i told them to hold the drive for another day. a kind member of the boards has sent me a printable phone order coupon, so i'm going to try that tomorrow and HOPE that another manager is on duty! i'll report with my results!

may i ask what is with the bird links?
Heh.. Those are my Quaker Parrots. Some people link their cars or computers and I felt like linking something showing my birds

As for what to send in on the rebate, they ask for the drive capacity label, so at least send that. Don't send just the proof of purchase on the back of the capacity label. Send the entire capacity square. The rebate for the OM/WD doesn't ask for the UPC/Serial number label, but I'd send it anyway to avoid any hassles. Just send copies of the UPC/Serial Number label and drive capacity label in for the $30 OM rebate.
