To get on this deal I'm going to be ordering it online so I can use the $30 off $150 coupon. And of course adding in FAR items. Now my question is since there are two version the 2mb and the 8mb what can I say to the OM customer service person if I get the 2mb version instead of the 8mb one. And is there a way to get on this deal besides online? I still have the scan of the $30 off $150. Me printing it out will be YMMV right? Anyone get away with this before? Because I know of 4 OM places I can drive to quickly if one store is out. ANd if I do want to buy more than one I might have go to another OM store to get the HD. Will it matter to the place I send in my rebates to if they see two identical reciepts but to different addys?

so all i have to do is wait till sunday, order the HDD and 10.01$ in other things, print off the rebates and send them in??

Its as simple as that. If you don't care about the 2mb or 8mb version. The 8mb version is faster and has 3 yr warranty. The OM webpage does say its for both drives. I think if you get the 2mb one you can bring it into OM and tell them you ordered teh 8mb one. Just make sure you bring in the right serial # which is WD1200JBRTL is the 8mb one.

the 8meg version is faster IN SOME LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES.

The 8 meg version of the drive will not save a microsoft word document any faster than the 2 meg version.

well for me when i transfer files that are 600+ megs I do notice the speed.

and I think this will be my first hot deal.

I'll be at the door of officemax at 10:30 and i'll wait for 30 minutes OR should I not?

I'm worried over the "AT Effect" and how stuff like this spreads EVERYWHERE on the net that if I don't show up early I won't get one...am I just apprehensive or no?

Isn't this deal an online deal? If you go to your B&M how are you going to use the $30 off $150. I do have the coupon scan if you need it but I think using it is a YMMV.

i read through the thread, and sorry if i missed it, but i need to make sure.

this is not B&M only right? the advertised special should appear online as well with the same prices/rebates at officemax.com correct?

if it is, itd be easier. just wait until 12am on sunday, order online, enter $30 coupon code, print rebates and pick up in store/delivery. easy as that!

Pick up at OM is no problem but they need like 3hrs or something to process your order and send it to your local OM.

Doesn't OM automatically checks for the closest OM near you and see if they have any instock. If not I'm sure they will opt to deliver it.

Ordered it online with an extra item and applied the coupon. I'm hoping when the deal starts, I can call them and get them to adjust the price and let me repurchase. Otherwise, the drive will go back and I'll try to order it again since I don't have an OM near me. It's going to suck getting this drive tomorrow and not being able to open it though.

The 2 OM's closest to me in mid-east MA both indicate that in store pickup has nothing to do with in store stock, as they still ship the item from the nearest warehouse to the store. They also said that the point of the online coupon is to encourage people to use the online site, which saves them money over the B&M stores.

Price of hard drives is down dramatically. My thought is that the manufacturers are phasing out IDE drives and Serial ATA will become major player soon in storage market.
