Perhaps I should have said I would be the 800th reply to this thread. That would be exact.

However, few people call them "replies", most call them "posts". When a thread is opened, there are zero replies posted. I posted the 800th reply, or in another way, I'm the 800th post to this existing thread...which is why I said I was the 800th post in this thread...it's existing, I'm 800.

Now, there are more important things to have a pissing match about, like Dell not shipping hard drives or not doing rebates for the OEM versions, so let's bury this little hatchet and move on...

I hope this is just a mistake not just a dirty trick. I guess not many people cancelled when they delayed it until the end of the year and some mid Jan so they automatically cacelled orders.

Well, I see my OEM was shipped... which wouldn't be too bad BUT I ALREADY CANCELLED THE ORDER... WTF! Well, guess I'll be calling for a $100 credit then..... guess good things can happen when you clearly specify the terms as to what will make a complaint go away with the BBB

The 800th reply you are correct....

but the response is still the 801st post....

Personally, I could give a flying rat's a-s who has number 800, 1000, 10 million - so I don't see what's the big deal....

But in reality, it's called attention to detail - one of those 'bad habits' I picked-up in the military (they seem kind of big on that....)

Doh!

you're wrong again !

Actually, Dell has been giving $100 refunds to people that purchased the OEM version since the 15th, once they've received their harddrive(s) - read here on Fat Wallet. And those that have checked the harddrive's serial number on the Western Digital website, have a three (3) year warranty....

But you can't ship, what you don't have....

that's the real problem ! ! ! !

edit - And I see that Muse has posted above that he has received a $100 credit, and the harddrive does have a three (3) year warranty ! ! ! !

Actually, K-squared, if you had been paying attention to the thread, you would have seen a post I made numerous pages ago about how Dell is telling their customers they're doing the $100 rebates on OEM drives. What I said was a generalization, was done tongue-in-cheek, and I even lowered myself to using an emoticon (which I very seldom ever do) to help my post be taken in a humorous manner. But you didn't get it. Even the original "OK, I'll be the 800th post in this thread" post was also simply for humor's sake, but you didn't get it.

You seem hell-bent on pointing out any possible fallacy, inconsistency or incorrect statement anyone makes. I wouldn't be surprised if that behavior makes for a rather large amount of your post count. You make corrections with zealousness and excitement, apparently to show your intellectual superiority over others, which is usually associated with, or diagnosed as, an inferiority complex.

Perhaps you should find a new hobby.

I received the OEM today. I have previously received a note back from Dell-Cathy that I would receive the $100 credit. It is hard to tell yet what I will get since no charge at all has yet to show on my credit card. Hope it works out for the best. I guess I will wait and see. I did get the Ebates credit however.

My my, looks like I touched a nerve. So, when you can't win the arguement, you throw a little mud - how Republican of you

I first have to ask, what was the point of the [now] infamous 800th/801st post? Was there anything of worth added to this thread? And since the issue of post count was brought-up, let's look at what you've posted, in this thread, since the infamous post:

#1048 - the [now] infamous post....

#1049 - your response were I am suppose to be able to decode that the entire comment was meant "tongue-in-cheek", based upon one icon added at the end....

I can honestly say that I have read every post in this (and the Fat Wallet) thread. Do you truly remember everything that has been posted in every one of the 800 posts prior to yours? And why did you post incorrect information in reference to the OEM rebate, when you clearly new the answer to that question - where you deliberately baiting me/others?

And am I (and everyone else on this forum) suppose to remember who does and who doesn't use the icons (emoticons), so we know what context in which to interpret the use of those icons? Or am I suppose to thoroughly review every forum members prior postings before I post a reply/response so that I can make some effort to understand in what context the icon(s) were used? You have to remember that there is a broad member base here, from many nationalities, occupations, and career fields. Not everyone thinks like you, posts/replies like you, writes like you....

Hell-bent - no. Annoyed by the pointless "801st" post - YES!

I would hardly call less than one post/reply/response per day as a "rather large... post count", and it's obvious you didn't even look at any of my previous posts in other threads. Do I post a reply when someone posts incorrect information - yes, because I've been on too many wild-goose chases, chasing a hot deal based on bad information. But then, that's what defines the difference between Fat Wallet and here - people there do their homework and rarely do they post bad information....

Yep - I never post anything of value. I'll let my record speak for itself - the 12 most current threads in which I have posted:

how Republican of you
I kindly request that you keep my mother out of this. <missing emoticon>
I first have to ask, what was the point of the [now] infamous 800th/801st post?
It's more than just famous...it's INNNNfamous! But I digress...for the answer, you'll need to scroll up to my last post, first paragraph, last sentence.
Was there anything of worth added to this thread?
Yes! We found out you also like to post replies that have no value to the subject of the thread. Wonders never cease, eh? <missing emoticon>
And why did you post incorrect information in reference to the OEM rebate, when you clearly new the answer to that question
Read it a few more times. I was referring to you and Lizardman getting into a pissing match, and if you didn't notice, this thread was built on a pissing match about drives shipping or not shipping, and rebates that should or should not be honored. Like I said before, you didn't get it, but you're still not listening.
And am I (and everyone else on this forum) suppose to remember who does and who doesn't use the icons (emoticons), so we know what context in which to interpret the use of those icons?
Don't be silly...

...just you.
Or am I suppose to thoroughly review every forum members prior postings before I post a reply/response so that I can make some effort to understand in what context the icon(s) were used?
Yes...and then come wash my car.
Do I post a reply when someone posts incorrect information - yes, because I've been on too many wild-goose chases, chasing a hot deal based on bad information
Great...so what "bad information" on this "hot deal" did you gleen from the INNNNfamous "800th post"?
Annoyed by the pointless "801st" post - YES!
And you still have this insatiable urge to continue posting about it because...?
Yep - I never post anything of value
I never said that...I just noticed that you're not doing it today.

Was it a surprise that the drive showed up, or did the Dell web site say it had shipped? Mine still shows as 11/25 so I was wondering if it might show up soon anyway.
