Once again.. when is the rebate coming out?

Just so you people know. I dont think dell tells you if its backordered or not. If you buy it and it says your expected ship date is in november, thats probably because its backordered. That is past the rebate date so...most likely you might have to cancel. Just keep your eye on it. I was one of the first on this deal, I got 2 and both confirmations say ill get it 10/16 or before. Im not sure what everyone elses say at this point.

Also, make sure you guys use ebates for an extra 2% off.(hey its an extra $4 on each drive)

What does the Retail package have that the oem doesn't? Both reflect the same $100 rebate so that's not an issue.

retail comes in a retail box. oem should just come in an anti-static bag. usually... rebates require that u have the upc from the retail box. so i am wondering how ppl who ordered the oem drive r gonna deal with the rebate. also... many time, oem items come with a shorter warranty then retail items (cpu's for example... retail = 3yr warranty, while oem = 30 day or so)

I'm afraid I ordered the oem. I went to the site trying to varify my order but nothing comes up. I would prefer to cancel and order the retail but there doesn't seem to be anything to cancel.
I suppose I'll try to phone them tomorrow.

Edit: However, I did receive the email with notice of tranaction. It's so late, I can't think.

Retail comes with a IDE cable and full 3 year warrenty. IDE cables can go from $10-20. And 3 year warrenty is always a must. Oem is just the drive with a 1 year warrenty. Even though I think that maybe even an OEM WDSE drive has a 3 year warrenty, but I might be wrong on that.

And YES that is an issue. THink about it. How do you get a rebate for something that doesnt have a box.

I too purchased the retail version... Seems like i got in late considering the deal, and figure there's both a better chance of getting rebate without extra hassles, and better chance that Dell doesn't cancel the order or take a month or more to get enough stock in to cover the AT/BensBC/FWallet effect.

Yeah, make sure you order the retail version and NOT the OEM version. The estimated ship date on the OEM version is Nov. 25th, but on the retail version it's October 16th.
