Although it's possible that Dell may honor it for the OEM drive (because Dell themselves mistakenly posted the rebate info and link on their OEM product pages), it will probably turn into a battle for those who ordered it--the rebate specifically states
retail packaged in 2 separate places. The rebate info also states: "To avail of the rebate, submit the completed WD rebate request form
along with the original WD capacity label from the product package". The OEM drive is not gonna have that label, folks.
Also bear in mind that, although Dell did make a mistake in posting the rebate on their OEM product pages,
it's not Dell who's handling the rebate, it's WD.
Again, you may get the rebate, but it'll probably be a fight. Some may think the extra few bucks are worth it, some may not. Also (as has already been stated in this thread), the retail drives carry a 3 year warranty. Not sure that's true of the OEM drives...
