I PM'd Cathy over at the dell forums and she said a $100 credit would be applied toward my card once the invoice processes and ships...mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. I wrote her again and asked when I could expect the credit now that it has shipped but she still hasn't responded.

You ordered a flipp'in HDD and someone at Dell made an error. It is not the end of the world, your family did not get injured, you didn't get physically harmed, your retirement accounts are not affected, hell-----you aren't even going to be out any additional money, you can cancel your order (you have already been heard by complaining to the BBB) or you can wait for the drive to eventually ship and send in your rebate.

All in all, you are not getting ripped off. But you choose to make a big stink'in deal about it.

Thread crapper my ass.....I go after whiner babies but I do not thread crap.....have you even read this thread in it's entirety. Man...pull your head out of your ass before making unsubstantiated comments.

And as for getting a life, look in the mirror pal. Who is acting like the sky is falling because a drive is delayed in shipping?

Another round of emails just went out, I received a couple on the OEM drives (A0009295) stating that it would ship and a credit would be applied within 10-15 business days.

Now let's hope that the rest of the retail drives get shipped also!

My wife's drive shipped! Order about 12:18AM 10/12, live in So. Calif. It is not in the tracking system at UPS yet, but if it is NOT coming from TN, I will post where it is coming from. Now if my drive would just ship, then I can start negotiations with the wife why I need her drive for a 240GB RAID 0 Stripe set and she will be happy with my two Quantum Fireball LM ATA66 drives!

got my 120 gig retail drive today along with my dimension 4550. which drive do i want to have as my primary drive? my other drive is a 60 gig 7200 rpm 2mb cache. does it matter?

It looks like all drives are shipping out, and very quickly. I got mine today even though I had Nov and Dec ship dates.

I have been advised that all order #'s that were placed for the drives between 10/8-10/13 have been sent to the fulfillment center. You should be able to take advantage of the rebate for both the bare and retail drive. Please let me know if you have problems with the rebate submission.

Yes, it does, although not greatly.
Install your OS on the faster one (120GB 8MB).

oh my gawd! my drive shipped!

here are my details:

Order detail - order placed 10/11/02 11:13:20 PM
Retail drive
Shipped via UPS Ground from Memphis, TN @ 8 pm today, now in transit to Philadelphia, PA.

I didn't really care when it would ship after all, le's be honest, a 120GB hard drive for about $70? For a deal like that I will show some patience.
Nonetheless I commend Dell AND Western Digital for resolving the issue so quickly.
