The best place to get good info on rebate is to call the 1-800 number on the rebate form.

Update #1 Best Buy is selling the Western Digital 60GB 7200RPM (2MB buffer) HD for $114.99 with a $40 MIR, price match the OfficeMax price of $79.99.

BB Western Digital 60GB PM'ed price $79.99 - $40 MIR = $39.99, if they give you the whole 110% PM then it's = $36.49

Of course every PM try at Best Buy is always a big YMMV.

The best to do it is to buy the HD then come back later to do the PM.

I have good news for you guys.

I tried to call the csr@officemax and they said that the HDD was out of stock. So, here's what i did.

I went to OM B&M, get the drive for $99 (there are 2 drives left). I asked for the manager and tell him about the flyer ($20 instant rebate). about the drive went out of stock at OM.com this morning and the $25/100 off. He asked for the coupon code for the $25 off, but I said i couldn't find the coupon code, but I can give him the link, so I asked him to verify it himself at the link for the coupon. I gave him all the print out

, and he went to his office for about 15 minutes (I think the made some call and web browsing). He then came up to me and said that he will gave the deal to me. WOOHOO!

The good thing is, I don't have to pay the shipping and OM B&M is just only a mile away from my apt.

I bought Imation 50 CDR and a CD case just to make it $100.

So, anyone with no luck buying online can try the B&M.
By the way, there is no flyer in B&M. You have to print it yourself.

Tried to order one, got the same line of choad from the CSR over the phone that "the purchase date is the date when it *ships*", ie is charged to the card, not when the order is placed. That's not what 20+ years of buying mail order has taught me, every packing slip I ever got had a "purchae date" and a "shipped date" which were different, but whatever. I would have been fine with a backorder if it arrived in time to submit by postmark date of rebate. So I email office customer service to ask them.

I just got my officemax package this morning. Fast! I ordered around 1:00 AM on sunday and it arrived tuesday morning. My toolkit was on backorder though. I was told it would arrive 1-2 days later direct from the manf. I am not looking forward to filling out all these rebates but its a good deal. Now what to do with 100 extra paperclips?

I just got mine also. Anyone who also got the Tool box answer a question for me. Did you get a yellow post-it on the front with some kinda number? I was just curious why there is a post-it on mine with some number. It doesnt match anything on the rebate form. Maybe that was my order # or something and they just forgot to take it off.

Mine arrived today also, along with those nice free after rebate goodies.

modempower: The sticker was just for their use in the warehouse. Last time I ordered a bunch of small free after rebate items, at least three of them had those little yellow stickers with some kind of stock/sku #'s on them. Ignore it.

Reminds me of when I received a $2 piece of wire (CPU temp. sensor) in a box large enough to fit a motherboard. The whole box was fully of packing peanuts. And the wire was stuck in between the box flaps on the bottom.

All the items on my order arrive on Tue. aftenoon.

Toolkit with a number written by marker on the out side. Strange.

The 60G WD works good, but I think it's kind of noisy, sounds like fan need lubricate. Before this I have used WD1000BB and 1200JB. They work pretty quiet. But this WD60BB doesn't, especially during the night.

Does anyone whose WD60BB has the same problem?

I don't think the noise can be a rescue to ask for a exchange since they are out of stock now.

That's all I received too, so I call CS and was told the FAR phone would be delivered Friday but the HD was on backorder and when something is on backorder if they didn't get any more HDs in within 7 days they cancell the order :frown: I hope she's wrong about that.
