I have the MX-1700, and with the exception of the flash being too close to the lens, and there being no manual focus.. this camera is GREAT. My pictures turn out day to day MUCH better that 9/10 pictures I see taken with high megapixel camers. Fuji has a GREAT CCD and they achieve results at much lower pixel rates that those at twice the pixels. The downside that I think of the MX models is the brightness. Its not as bright as i would like. Thats EASILY fixable in photoshop, so its almost not even worth mentioning.
Let me link a picture or two that I took with my MX-1700 (1.5megapixel)
Leaf with water
Flower in sun
I am by no means a pro, but with just a little trying, I was able to produce pictures that you will have TROUBLE matching in a 2 or even 2.5 megspixel camera. Little tricks with the autofocus help... like focus on one thing, then hold the take picture button halfway down then move... it will keep the old focus point (thats how I got the background blurred on that flower pic). If you are so bad at taking pictures that you think you need the biggest and best, well, you may just be right... and the more power to you... please sell me your camera when you are done at like $20 or something...
But as it stands, I am SO pleased with my Fuji camera, that I HIGHLY reccomend them to all my freinds, and they are NEVER disapointed.
p.s. My MX-1700 takes better pictures than the 5MP Sony we have at work. Looking into it, Sony is dumb.
