I bombed the guy, not for only having a long post, but most of what he wrote was simply not true. Let me just take what he said about RAM as an example. I noticed almost no difference going from 256 to 512 MB of RAM, unless you are running something like BF 1942. Anyway, DWW recommends 1024 MB, which is REALLY overkill in my book. I mean, he says he is trying to save Tret money, then tells him to get more memory than he will ever be able to really use inside of a year.
Also he is downplaying the importance of Low Latency memory. I have two pieces of OCZ PC 3500. One is their Low Latency and the other is their Basic Series. The difference is night and day, the low-latency clocks so much higher, I wonder why they are even both referred to as the same speed memory (probably because they both have 4.5ns modules.) However, buying the faster RAM means Tret can lower the multiplier and raise his FSB for better performance, and with tight memory timings, which also will make a pretty big difference. That Crucial will not be able to do that, especially having two double-sided sticks.
Also, why does DWW assume that if you pay a lot for a system you won't wanna overclock it?
It's not that I have anything against DWW, it's just that I disagree with almost everything he had to say, and there was SO much of it.
