Are you really sure you want to do this? As I've said earlier, its going to be VERY expensive. And no offense, you really don't seem to know what you're doing. Sure we love to help here, but this is alot of money, and as cool as this idea is, I honestly can't recommend you to start up such a business, with such little knowledge in it.

As far as networking goes, you'd obviously want a big router with at least 20-30 ports, depending how many computers you have in your store. A good internet connection, with so many computers at LEAST a T1.

Which computers have you decided on? As others have said, Dell is great, good tech support, good prices, and discount on bulk purchases. It may be overlooked by "hardcore" gamers, but it would be much easier on such a business.

Not to discourage you but there is this local LAN arcade shop near my brother's apartment, called "Digtal Arena", they have some dells, dunno the specs. But you hardly see anyone there. I'm guessing its the location, because its next to a big supermarket. So you might want to find a good location and a reliable method to get the word out in your area.

well there was this place opened last year in my city in the first week it was already a hit it was always full. but they had to close down. I think they closed down because they forgot to get a bussiness permit. This place always get full.

A bunch of people at my school plays pc games and im going to open it in the same street where my school is at.

Man, this guy just opened an internet cafe/ kinda gaming shop this week. I say kinda gaming as he seems to have only 1 comp really setup for that, the rest seem like they're just for surfing, ie no joysticks, sound etc... I don't quite understand the point of the store. Its also in this mini-mall in our village that's a graveyard of failed businesses

Nice guy, he's selling hardware for prices competitive with Newegg, so I hope we stays around...

Perhaps xbox or PS2 might be better for you.... you wouldn't have to worry about picking out a mouse or anything...

There's no way I'd risk that sort of capital and i have a degree in Business & Accounting, am an enthusiast/"hardcore" PC gamer, game site+server admin, and currently using my 4th self-built PC.

He wasn't saying that because he didn't play games much that he didn't need systems that could play games. He was saying that due to the fact that he didn't play games often, he didn't have a handle on what components to use. Hence this thread. I don't know what was so hard to understand about what he wrote, and why it was misconstrued. I mean maybe it could have been a bit clearer, but I understood what he was saying, and I know he wasn't contradicting himself. All he was saying was that he didn't play games too often, and because of that fact, he needed help picking components.
