I dont see why people are giving the OP a hard time. He gave the "kid" several months notice that his time there was coming to an end. What the hell is he supposed to do? Try and start over and raise the "kid" right? Kid has to grow up some day, and the sooner that comes about, however unpleasant it might be for him, the better for the "kid" it will be.

Hes been told that we have plans to build a suite and rent it out in Nov 09....he was given a date of March 20th, 10 to vacate. He is well aware of this and I have sold all the contents of the basement within the last few months. Construction has started and he sees and hears it...daily. Like I said before, if his stuff is not out by March 20th, I will move it out. I have new locks to install on all the doors to so he has no access to my house.

As noted - we were only a third of the house here. Roomies, while jaded by WoW, only seemed to give a shit when the cable internet shut off because neither of them paid the bill because licking a stamp or logging onto the power company website was not raiding or farming for <zombie> epiczzzz, EPICZZZZZ!!!!</zombie>

To the OP - to CYA you might wish to look into your states landlord/tenant law. Pretend teh deadbeat is a renter who hasn't paid rent. Serve upon him a notice in writing demanding payment of $0 rent. Give the requisite time to correct (as per your state law) and then file for eviction. It'll be a few hundred total, but worth it as the sheriff will come and dump his stuff on the street.

I don't really like the idea of booting people out when they have nowhere to go, but living there doesn't mean it needs to be a spa. No internet. No TV. Constantly get him to do things like take out garbage, fold the laundry, clean the dishes, help make dinner, mow the lawn, shovel the snow. It should be "bad" enough that he doesn't want to live there.
