After using them for a year, I came to the conclusion that the Lucent chipset (Orinoco, Sony, etc...) was MILES better than the Prism chipset (all the rest, i.e Linksys. SMC, etc...) for PCMCIA cards. Somehow it needs less power for speed and range. On the other hand, when the Prism chipset is properly powered )say in an access point like the SMC router) then it works fine.

The nex big thing is 802.11a with a bandwidth of 54mbps, effective 20...vs 802.11nb, bandwidth of 11mbps, effective 4mbps...
Reminds me of gas mileage for cars !
