Outpost is getting really bad on pricing mistakes, taking the item down, cancelling the orders via the "We're out of stock" or "discontinued" methods, and then changing the part number and price and offering again.

Instead of being honest and saying "We made a price mistake", they simply go the wrong way.

Outpost is starting to suck!

I can't disagree that they handle the cancellations badly, and their pricing and inventory systems are among the least reliable I have seen to date but I can say that on last 2 price mistakes (this one and the OCZ 1gb valueram deal) Outpost has so far honored both for me (just got the tracking number for this one). I can only guess it was because I placed my orders immediately after spotting them being posted, and I do mean within minutes of seeing them before they hit other forums etc. Outpost did mess up my order on the P4 3.0C combo that was on sale not long back, something due to the motherboard not being available but I hold no ill will, sure they are lacking in their customer support but I think they are pretty honorable for even shipping some of these pricemistakes to the lucky few.

I'm begining to think that the best way to handle these 'deals' @ Outpost is to order it for yourself & not let anyone else know until your's has shipped.

Yes I know that this goes against the whole reason why we have a 'Hot Deals' forum but in Outpost's case this is really the only way that some may actually get in on one of these 'obvious' price mistakes.

I wish it weren't true either, but unfortunately even the one who is generous enough to share their find here ends up empty handed as well.

Well, I just got confirmation that my order was shipped. I hate that so few people got in on this. After checking FW, now I realize that my post here was about 20 minutes after someone posted there, so I was lucky to get in on it at all.

Let us know if you got one or got cancelled. One of the things I did with this deal is I went back through the thread where we ordered the 9800pro from J&R, and pm'd many of the people who lost out there (like I did). It would be nice if some of the folks who keep missing the deals on these video cards could get one, so if you're the next person to find a deal on one, consider pm'ing the folks who missed the boat here (especially RossMAN, who has helped so many of us over the years here with his hot deal posts).

Good luck, everybody.

I'm kinda glad J&R deal didn't work out after getting in on this one. Got my shipping confirmation and tracking number, expected delivery on monday. Btw for anyone who got in and gets this, these are known to run quite hot, so you may want to pickup a Arctic Silencer rev 3 (just ordered me one from SVC, with the $5 coupon code from maximum pc mag) around $15 total shipped.

Want to make this STEAMING HOT!!!

Go to staples through THIS LINK HERE and call to order or order online this card from staples and have them PRICEMATCH to $179. Staples has this card for $453. So the 10% difference is about $28 bucks. Then use one of the $30 off $150 coupons floating around and get this card for CHEAP like I did a few weeks back. Staples will charge you the same shipping rate outpost would charge.

I KNOW they will PM to outpost because I did this with the OEM version they had for sale... even though techincally staples shouldn't have but failed to read it was OEM. This time, this is NOT an OEM card.

You got really lucky on that one. If you found a Staples customer reps who is unfamiliar with pricematching then they'll pricematch it to an OEM card. Most time they don't have the incentive to do it because:

1.) Such huge price difference, they'll first talk to their manager about adjusting the price; they don't want to be responsible for pricematch to a wrong item. That's what my local Staples rep did.

2.) Pricematch exclude coupons. So you can't use coupon. Again only someone unfamiliar with this policy will do it.

And I pricematch to a local Fry's add for AIW 9800 OEM for 200. Thankfully the rep didn't know what OEM was. He however did call Fry's to make sure it's in stock and that it's not refurbished. He also ask Fry's customer support why it's so cheap etc. The final pricematch is only for 100% instead of 110% becuase he say it's such big difference.

Basically, he tries everything possible to avoid pricematch. In the end, I got lucky because he didn't know what's oem. My past experience with Staples pricematch has been very unpleasant with their online customer reps. They'll do everything in their power to not the pricematch (understandably so) including:
You can't click through a promotional link such as pricewatch.com
They don't have it in stock.
It's differen part number.
No Staples coupons can be added after the pricematch to competitor's price.
Adding next day charge that makes the final pricing more expensive than one listed by other company using UPS ground (assuming you want the best price but can wait for a week).

Well, enough of my gripe.
Good luck.

If they are the same as the OEM version Frys/Outpost sells these are the 9800NP but not crippled in any way just clocked slower than a pro. Detail specs from somebody who got one on Labor Day:

Device ID - 4e49
Chip Type - R350
Memory size - 128 MB
Memory bsu width - 256 bit
Active pipelines - 8
Default gpu cloock - 324
Default MNemory clock - 297 (effective 594)

From Tom's hardware this closest matches:
Radeon 9800 ATI R350 DX 9 325 580 256-bit 8x1

But many people claimed they had no problem clocking the speeds higher to match the pro stock core/mem.

Includes only the card, a drivers cd, and cables, no extras, no software.

Received mine today and got the retail box. Also received my arctic cooling rev 3 silencer today from SVC, couldn't believe it had got here so fast, my first order with them and very pleased to say the least. Now just to see what happens with my order on the Leadtek 6800GT with Iocombo.

Why not just get the refurbed 9700pro from Crucial for $129? I thought hard about that one before this hot deal came along.

I'm surprised there aren't more people trying to sell their 9800pro's for around $150. I can't imagine paying someone anything over that for a card you can buy for under $200 brand new (and sometimes cheaper, like $179).

If you have an old junk card to spare, you can always do the ATI tradeup program for the 9800AIW if they are still offering the $100 instant discount combined with the 10% coupon floating around it ends up $220 shipped after you get the $50 credit back and you would be getting it new instead of used or refurb.
