I still had the item in my shopping cart since December for $34.99 and when it came back in stock it let me purchase it for that price! Woohoo! I did get Samsung chips though.... I don't have a DDR MB to try it in right now so I guess this is another bump for.... How does crucial 256MB PC2100 DDR with Micron chips compare to samsung chips? Anybody know?

I got raincheck finally - Took the price down to 24.95 and I got two. My technique was to ask for it first and then present it to the cashier on the way out. Long lines always help as they want to keep everyone happy. Also, I had to go to another store to get the RAM but they accepted anyways.

From what I've seen in reviews using DDR, there is theoretically very little difference between the Samsung and the Micron chips. It's only when overclocking comes into play that the Micron shines just a bit more than the Samsung chips. I think the Micron runs at 2T more stable than the Samsung, too. The Samsung chips have been working fine with 2T and Ultra settings on RAM for me, so far.

Most people are just upset because they purchased Micron RAM, it should have Micron chips... It's like the people who bought Maxtor hard drives and found Quantum drives instead. Though there is theoretically very little difference, and they are both covered under the same warranty, people were upset because it was not what they had paid for...

man.....after in and out of BB three times......they finally give me the ram for 34.99.....no MIR....damn....but still good price...hehe........

I also got an e-mail late last week, also from Stephanie, that they were going to make a one time exception and honor the $34.99 price. My RAM shipped yesterday, and UPS shows scheduled delivery tomorrow.

/me crosses his fingers for Micron chips...

Philipps ($40.00 rebate) people could learn a lesson or two from Crucial $10.00 rebate program. The rebate came in an envelope, not a postcard type, and it only took 5-6 weeks. I have faith in Crucial ....May just buy some stocks from them.

I bought it and everything was ok....but now I need more RAM!

I'd like some opinions on a plan of attack. I ordered 2 sticks online back in dec for delivery. They canceled on me a week and a half later. Of course I was really pissed off because I used their cheap ram as an excuse to get a new mobo and over the time it took them to cancel the price at crucial.com went up ~30%. I filed a complaint with the bbb, but it has been over a month now, and I haven't heard anything except the postcard from the bbb saying they recieved the complaint (btw, the complaint is officially with bestoffer.com which, according to the bbb, is the same as bestbuy.com. is this right?) Anyhow, since I ordered online, I don't have a raincheck, and I'm sure the ram isn't in my shopping cart anymore. Have people had luck getting the low price over the phone? Has anyone else heard from the bbb?

got (1 of 3) my ram yesterday. i showed the B guy 2 different packs, one samsung chips, one micron (of the sdram).

in order to get he ddr ram, the guy had to call to the back, where they have raincheck supply stock being held for the customers they are supposed to call, but probobly never do.

so i got a ram stick that was held for someone else.

my advice is try that. also, they should have all the flyers from the past in binders up front in CS, so do that to get the 10 bucks that you cant rebate from to get it ot 24.99.

Just print out your order status...the one that was cancelled.
I'm gonna try it on Saturday because they were out-of-stock @ my store...

I called BB today and gave them my order number. She said she would put in a request to reinstate the order and that I would hear from them in 2-3 business days. Time to cross my fingers.

I tried again to get Best Buys to honor the original order and they quoted the terms and conditions allowing them to cancel if they could not get sufficient stock from the manufacturer. They didn't explain why I got a delayed shipment notice before I got a cancelled notice. I never got a good explanation about why Customer Service told me that the product was no longer carried by Best Buys or discontinued by manufacturer (Customer Service was confused why my order was cancelled when I first called them).

I am still confused why I got a backorder notice and delayed shipment notice before they cancelled altogether. Other than the obvious - that they weren't going to lose that much money to honor the original order price. That would be "politically incorrrect" and maybe legally suicidual but at least it would make more sense than your order will be delayed till possibly after Christmas and then all of sudden cancelled.

I am left with a bad taste for online ordering anything from BEST BUYS - since I sounds like "Customer NO SERVICE" is handling the complaints differently depending on how much hassle they are given. Email is probably not the solution.

BB is following Kmarts lead in Customer Service, lets hope they go bankrupt if they keep this up. They screwed up, then screw the customer with small print that gets them out legally, but a piss poor decision to screw customers rather than do the right thing. BB is the master of bait and switch, especially computer items.

BB is not all bad..at least there is no restocking fee....like Circuit City and Compusa...

Couple years ago my wife bought me a monitor for my b-day and they could not get it easily into the car and he wanted to take it out of the box..she said no way thankfully or there was no way to return for 19in monitor I wanted...she picked an awesome monitor..Sony 17in but I wanted a 19in and when she saw she loved as well so we returned to CC and bought my Samsung 900IFT
