Atif,

<< Does Crucial's lifetime warranty still apply to the RAM when purchased from Best Buy?... >>

Got three of 'em here for my Dragon+, straight from the back of the card which comes in the DDR package:

Terms of Limited Warranty
Yada, yada, yada...
"The Lifetime Limited Warranty covers only defects arising under normal use and does not include malfunctions or failures resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, " etc and so forth.

So looks like a lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects, etc.

P.S.-Thanks again for the heads up on the WIN XP Pro deal!

I have BB 6 miles from where I live. Just to make sure that I do get DDR RAM even though people queue up early morning outside BB, I order one of these at 08:30am EST. I asked for store pickup to save S&H. Didn't receive any mail till 04:00pm so decided to go over to BB to check if they have any in stock. To my surprise they had a few with them. Picked up one for myself. I got a email from them on Monday evening that there are none in stock.

Moral of the story, BB's online order system is crap. I am never using it again.:|

I think it just depends on your local store. I've used online ordering several times, and it's always gone relatively smoothly.

<< Got 4 sticks and no mother board/CPU. So I just order a bunch of stuff on Newegg and spent a fortune. MB takes 3 sticks at most. So I need to upgrade another of my pcs. Now I definitely spent more because of this purchase. What a way to save a few $$. >>

I know how you feel. I am in the same shoes. Bought 4 sticks of ddr2100 and no mobo or cpu. Now i am looking into buying the mobo/cpu. To save $60.00, i have to spend about $250.00 I need a chinese abacus to figure these numbers.

I also had problems with In-Store Pick-up. I placed the order for 1 stick in-line around 8:45 am. I was out & about so I stopped by to see if I could pick up my order with the order completion e-mail (I had the confirmation e-mail). At the counter I was told they HAD to have the completed order number to give me my RAM (even though it was only 4 feet away from me). I got them to let me use a computer to check my e-mail, & even though it was 4 hours after I placed my order, I still hadn't received the e-mail yet. They refused to get my order & told me I was obligated to get the RAM I purchased on-line. I didn't get the e-mail until later in the evening, so I went back Monday to pick it up & got stuck waiting for 20 minutes while the only person at customer pick-up rang up a computer system. Then I had to go to the regular checkout & wait in line again for 15 min to pay for a D-Link NIC PCI card (free after rebates) because the woman at CPU was too busy to ring it up.

Quite a production for a "convenience" service. Had I just made a regular purchase it would have only taken 5 minutes.

To add insult to injury they ruined the UPC with the Pick-Up sticker!

mikecrof, thanks for the info. I guess it's good enough, this is the retail part that Crucial sells, we're all sure, I just wanted to be sure that Crucial would take it in the event that it failed (like my PC133 did) because I discretely remember Crucial's request on the RMA authorization form for a Crucial Customer ID # (or something to that end) I think I'll jump (assuming my store still has it) because I need a stick for the testbed for VN Roundup By the way, you're welcome for the heads up on the Channel Excitement Kit, I'm glad you got yours.

Peace

add me to the list of people that seem to have gotten screwed by bestbuy.com.

My order for pickup was processed and confirmed.
I got the "no stock at that store" email and called the 800 number.
They found another store in my area that had some and changed my pick up site to that store.
Then I got another "no stock at that store" email.
I called again and they told me that none are available in my area and there are none in the warehouse AND they may not restock this item, so I might just be out of luck.

I emailed the customer service folks to see if they are just going to d!ck me over or if they are going to put their money where their mouth is.

I too am disgusted.

So to continue on from my story of being screwed by instore pickup:

I called the number that I was given by the instore guy. Turned out it was just the local store number, and he was just giving me the number to call and see if they ever have it in stock. So I called the 1-800 number on the printout. Talked to someone there, who sent me to Consumer Credit Relations (another 1-800 number). Consumer Credit was like "WTF? Why did they send you to us? We're Best Buy, not BestBuy.com. We're two seperate entities that just work together." He was nice enough to call back to the other number, get someone on the line, and do a conference call.

Anyways, they said that the store I was picking up at still showed 4 in inventory (which was what they told me when I got there the night before) but another store near me showed 8. Did I want to pick it up there? I told them I didn't trust their inventory, and just get it to me another way. They cancelled my order, had me re-order, and gave me the free shipping and no order charge deal.

I don't know how they are dealing with people who have been screwed now. Since they aren't even taking online orders anymore.

I can tell this instore pickup thing just checks if the stores inventory system "shows" inventory there. That DOESN'T take into account the 4 sticks that were either: a.) Stolen by employees; or b.) Hidden in the backroom by employees until payday.

I'm drafting a letter to send to both Best Buy and BestBuy.com about this fiasco. And I still plan on returning the RAM and buying it back at the rebated price (like the guy in the store promised he'd let me do. I got his name.)

I hate Best Buy's "In Store Pickup".

10/9 Midnight: Order 2 x 256 DDR for "In Store Pickup"
10/10 8am: Recieve"Not Available in Store"
10/10 10am: Request Different Store, told plenty in stock
10/11 2pm: Recieve "Thank you for ordering, will email with pickup number"
10/12 7pm: Recieve "Not Available in that Store"

Each time it offered to ship to me free of charge. In order to get the free shipping you have to reorder, email customer service with the new order number, they will cancel the old order, ship you the new order. THe problem with this is you can't order them anymore online "Not Available for order or pickup"

What really ticks me off is I was in Best Buy on the 10th and didn't pick any up because I had some for pick up at a different store. Now it seems I won't be getting any as it stands.

<< 4:30 pm central time on 12-11-01

1st: Called Crucial to pricematch without rebate and they said no-dice.
2nd: called Best Buy at 888 number and they said they would honor deal through website through Saturday
3rd: Went to order online and got a popup box when I tried to checkout with 4 sticks that read:
"The following item is not available for delivery or pickup"

FUDGE! TOO DAMN LATE!
>>

my local B&M BB better dam* well have my stick when I go there tomorrow :frown: (ordered Sunday online for instore p/u and was confirmed on Sunday )
>>

Well ....Got me 2 sticks...went in with my sis Mon night and she got the last on the shelf stick while I stood at CustomerP/U finagling with no luck to get my web order ( me a dumb*s* forgot my credit card that I used... ) so I figured I was only going to get the one...went in tonight to the BM BB (with all my papers and correct creditcard this time ) and the girl at CP/U looked at my web order and said " Oh, we are out of stock on that " I was like read my paper again please and then the lightbulb lit and then it was like " Oh let me see if this has been put on hold for you" ...like "that is what is supposed to happen" I almost blurted out. Some guy I had never seen came over with all kinds of different memory(no Crucial) comparing against my paperwork ...hehe..the dolt almost dropped a SODIMM (256MB) on me..LOL that would have been sweet...the CSR ( the girl ) grabbed the 256MB CF Card...and started to run the creditcard...but the dolt smartened up and said "No..that's not it either" .. so I'm like these yoyos are my kind of CSRs I would always like to run up on at BB.. ...so dolt goes off with my paper and is gone for like 20 minutes while I chat up "Wendi" ...hehe ..she's cute ...dolt rolls up with what appears to be a wad of paper...my web stick ...yah now to print out the online rebate form for me and fillout my printed out at the store on Mon night rebate form...(Wendi..could not get the form/or the rebate receipt to printout...I told her it was ok...that I would get it online

I had picked up a couple of sticks last week when I thought my memory was bad, then I heard about the sale. Wish I could have used 4 sticks but A7V266E only takes 3. So I returned one of em today and pricematched the other one. Saved $25 instantly on that one stick plus I get another $10 off with the MIR.

Hey hey hey!!! I ordered online and they're just jerkin me around. So tonight I go to my local store to see if they happen to have them in stock and voila! they have two sticks on the rack. S-W-E-E-T ! I was thinking I missed another hot deal but now I finally scored plus bought it with my AMEX blue card.
This was at the Chula Vista (San Diego area) store.

I just walked in to the southcenter store (Tukwila,Wa) and picked up the last two sticks !!

I guess the guy who held them for me while I ws looking at car cd-players was approached by a few VERY interested people.

He told me he almost sold them....needless to say, I'm glad he didn't....and so is he, he just doesn't know it.

Moral dilema Question : If I was buidling a box for a friend, and was looking for him in the first place, but seeing that I could no longer get these as they are gone, is it wrong to keep them for myself ?
Should I let him buy them online for $55 each ?
Keep in mind that I am not charging him a dime, and I am lapping and the whole 9 yards, my Actic Silver....ect..ect...
And if I do let him have them, should I get the rebate ? (I think so, that dam line was long tonight)

I usually always pass the savings on to whoever is buying...but I would love to put this in a Dragon+ w/XP !!

Went to Best Buy yesterday during my lunch hour to pickup some of the Crucial PC2100 DDR. Walked straight to the counted and say they had plenty left and got the guy to get me what I needed.

Price was $34.99 plus tax - $10 MIR = $26.74

Excellent deal, actually cheaper than when I used the Anandtech link for Crucial.

A+

Cricky and others,

Same boat here. Went to the store (50 mile drive) after I got my confirmation. I just knew they weren't gonna have it but told them about the drive I had to make and after like 40 minutes the GM finally authorized a $20 GC and said they would call when it came in. Doesn't look like they'll get it within the rebate period, wonder if they will knock the $10 off somehow.

Okay, I just recieved an e-mail that my second order on this item has now been cancelled.

So, in essence, I have paid Best Buy twice for this item, and not recieved it either time. And wasted a couple hours of my life in the process.

So I await them crediting my account again (It's funny how they can get the money out so quickly, but take so long to credit it back to you). I have tied up the money involved in purchasing this RAM for three weeks now.

But because of the incompetence of the instore staff, I was left out in the cold on my inital order. And now I have been again.

I've already sent off an angry e-mail to them. I know it will do no good.

Avoid Best Buy online ordering for instore pickup. There is no communication or realtime inventory involved, so your chances of NOT recieving the goods that you HAVE already paid for increase.

I'm begging now... IF anyone has a copy of that Best Buy flyer from 12/9 that shows this Crucial memory deal and a date, I need it desperately. I was under the impression that Amex would do a pricematch to my receipt from Best Buy. I didn't know they needed a dated advertisement. If someone has it in their newspaper pile and could scan it for me that would be super-cool and I would be eternally indebted to you.

Thanks,

I first drove 60 miles to pick this same ram up because I did the online pickup service and when I arrived they didn?t hold my order! Then I went home and reordered the same ram that showed in stock to have it delivered to my house. Then I got a notice it was on backorder and now cancelled. What a fu@ked up store. All this after a week and half and ram has went up much more since then! Has anyone found a e-mail address of a person at bestbuy thats high up beside the generic one? If you e-mail the generic one all they will say is sorry but I know nothing; better luck next time!

While searching for an e-mail address to send a complaint I came across this website that fits them perfectly!:

I got cancelled too. This really ticks me off. I was debating getting a new motherboard at the time and the clinching factor was that I could get cheap ram. Now I have the motherboard and no ram to put in it. Back on 12/9 when I placed the order crucial.com was at $53/stick, now they are at 65. The way I see it, BB waiting so long to back out of their contract will cost me $12/stick. I've already filed with the BBB.

Anyone think that there will be an after xmas sale?

Anyone think you can get a rebate on two sticks? I'm thinking I could use two copies of the same receipt and send them seperately but is it even worth it, do they allow two rebates on this ram?
