Want to know what pisses me off even more than that? Look here at the currently in stock "featured item". How odd that they would make something they won't be carrying any more the featured item, much less have it the featured item since 1/7/02. The 3rd case I opened with them was demanding an explanation why an item they "won't be carrying any more" was still on their web page 2 weeks after they told me they weren't carrying it any more, currently in stock AND a featured item. After that they started switching their explanation to "limited quantities", etc.

If Best Buy would simply tell me that won't honor my order simply because they are greedy b@stards I may consider letting it go, but after weeks of flat out lying to me, there is no way I am dropping it.

BrianA

edit: Does anyone know where I can get scans of the entire 12/9 Best Buy ad? I need to confirm that it says BestBuy.com in the circular or they will continue to pull the "B&M and .COM are seperate entities" crud...

Look at this.
I had planned to order the DDR back on Dec.9th, but decided I did not need it at the time. However, I did add it to my shopping cart on my secondary computer, and forgot about it. This Sunday I discovered that it was still sitting in my cart @$34.99. So, I decided to try to place the order. Guess what, I'm getting 512mb DDR (2 sticks) for the original price of 34.99 ea. Received shipment confirmation and tracking # today, should be delivered tomorrow. No free shipping, and had to pay taxes. My total came to $84.47.

Yes it is in stock. Yes you can buy it. Yes it will cost you $89.99 per stick. I've even got a personal invitation from Best Buy customer service to rebuy the RAM they cancelled at $34.99 for $89.99.

You suck. The end.

Not trying to hurt anyones feelings, but I reordered a cancelled order a few days ago. I got it in the mail today (samsung chips), so I went online to check it. I got charged 89.99 + s/h + tax. I also got the difference credited back to my acct. It's finalized, not pending. So while I got it for $34.99 (instead of $24.99), I'm not goin to complain that much.

I would order, then call and complain.

DavemanUT (and rest)--

My experience was a little different, with the same result. I had ordered it for in-store pickup. It wasn't there when I went to in-store pick it up. So I called Service at that time, and they told me to re-order it and they would ship it for the same price. Then they cancelled that order without an explanation. So I kept e-mailing them asking them why? Why cancel the order when it was available within a week again at a much higher price?

When I didn't get a response, I simply sent an e-mail asking them that if they (whomever was reading the e-mail) would put up with the same service that I had put up with. I didn't get angry. I didn't threaten with the BBB and such. I simply asked if they would feel happy if they had been jerked around so much.

I got an e-mail the next day telling me to order the part, and that they would credit me the pricematch to my original order amount ($34.99). I'm happy, I got my RAM at last.

<< BTW, I have a raincheck, do u think they would honor it if i pick in store pickup online and went in with the rain check? >>

I don't know about the online approach, but I had a raincheck for 5 more sticks and was able to get 2 at a different location. The price of DDR is currently 89 bucks and i don't think anyone is going to run out an get DDR right away, at the stores that i went to most of them had at least 4-5 sticks in stock (even though they were the Samsung Chips, not the Micron). My friend tried to get a BB in Milpitas, CA to honor his as I did, but said that they never issue rainchecks for RAM prices and they said he had to go back to the issuing store in order to get the honored price which really sucked being 8:45pm at night. So if you have a raincheck that was given at the store they have to honor it, but if its for an online purchase i'd think in order to get the price honored you'd have to have it delivered (don't waste you time with the hasle) just my two cents

You got lucky, I tried being nice (I am still trying to remain civil however), but after almost a month of being yanked around it tends to wear on the nerves a bit...

BrianA,

First off I want to say thank you for your post. After I seen that they do now carry the ram in stock at BestBuy; I decided to contact them asking WTF is going on after they told me it was no longer available to order.

Here what I just got today in my inbox e-mail after 2 days:

<< Thank you for contacting Best Buy about your recent online order. I'm
Stephanie with Customer Care.
>>

<< We apologize for any frustrations that your may have experienced with your
recent order.
>>

<< Please resubmit your order online. You'll initially be billed for shipping
and handling, however, when you reply to this email with your order number,
we will credit your card for the standard shipping and handling amount. We
will also honor the 34.99 price. Let us know if you have any further
questions or concerns.
>>

<< Or, if you would like, we'd be happy to help you place your order. Just call
us at 1-888-BestBuy.
>>

<< We look forward to your next visit to one of our stores or to
www.BestBuy.com. Please do not hesitate to contact us with additional
questions or concerns.

Total came to $37.19, free shipping but I had to pay for tax.
I hope everyone else has good luck!

Anyone here get PC World Magazine? Crucial ALWAYS has an advertisement, and in the top right corner, there is a price quote of Crucial 256 DDR. Anyone tried to pricematch that? I was thinking about trying it. Can't hurt.

I had a raincheck for four sticks...........I went to BB yesterday and they had about twenty of them hanging behind the counter. Showed them my rainchecks and got all four at $34.99@...I didn't bother with the rebate....Just happy to have 1gig ddr ram for $140.00 (plus tax).
My only complaint is these sticks have Samsung chips instead of Micron....They're better be good ram or they're going back.
Samsung has a good reputation on ram chip but the thought of Micron using Samsung stuff bothers me. Do you guys think these chips are worth to keep?

I still have the ad if anyone needs it.

Bump for "what's the story with Samsung chips on my Crucial DDR?" First 2 sticks I got in December were Micron, next 2 I got this week were Samsung. Is the Samsung stuff any good?

BuckMaster:

Could you forward me the email you received from them? They are not being as cooperative with me and are claiming that they aren't honoring the price for anybody.

I could use some leverage here.....

Thanks!

well i finally went back to best buy to pick up my ddr, now armed with the scan of the original best buy ad, thanks to dc. it took a little while, one manager needing to get approval from a sales manager, but in the end, they pricematched the listed $59.99 down to the original ad of $24.99. YES! not the $34.99, they only looked at the final price (they weren't being very thorough, and didnt really question the date of the raincheck either).

so final total: $27.05 (8.25% sales tax)

not a bad price, even if it is samsung chips....but for what i need itll be good enough. now just waiting for the abit nv7m and then i'll be good to go for a small game machine paired with the xp1800 that i won from amd

Whew! Just checked mine, and they're Micron chips. The Samsung ones are probably just as good, but when I buy Crucial ram, I expect Micron chips on it.

perhaps i missed something along the way...i just read this thread, and i keep seeing people refer to a $34.99 price, and gettin this rebate and that to lower that price...but this ram (as you probably all now know) is listed at $89.99....

when did they raise the price? is there anyway us latecomers can get it for $34.99 or anything even close to that???

awww hell this was posted in December!

Phhnyc --

Bestbuy had a deal for Micron 256 Meg DDR PC2100 back on Dec. 9th for $34.99 - $10 MIR = $24.99... Naturally, they sold out very fast. A lot of us put orders in for the RAM on the Sunday morning for in-store pickup. And a lot of us who did that found out that, when we got into the store later that day, they had NOT pulled our orders and were sold out. Best Buy allowed us to re-order the RAM for delivery, and they would waive the delivery charge on that.

About ten days later, all of us who re-ordered found our orders cancelled with no explanation. Around the same time, the price of DDR RAM shot up like a rocket. So we found our orders were cancelled, but the part was available again for ordering but was at least $40 more.

Some of us complained about this mistreatment and were able to get Best Buy to agree to let us re-order the part online, again, and they would pricematch back to the price we were promised back in December. So unless you ordered back in December, this thread is pretty pointless.

I got my RAM in the MAIL Saturday. Samsung chips... Oh well, it should be on par with the $39 Centon DDR from Circuit City... I still can't BELIEVE they USPS'd it...
