It won't matter which? If I disable the Linksys and my ISP changes IP's won't I run into problems?

Man I am going to get a deal so hot my fingers are burning already!

Target has a deal tommorrow where Target employees get 20% off for one day and some kind of rewards thing for being employees for a certain amount of time. Anyway a friend of mine works at Target, they have 5 of the 610's sitting in a stock room discontinued. They don't have shelf space to disply them, so at 8am tommorrow the bundles go on bulk stack at $69.99 each. Friend doesn't work tommorrow, so we will be in at 8am to buy all 5 for $69.99-$14-$20MIR means $36 and change for each router bundle. eBay here I come...

not DHCP Client, DHCP Server.

currently ur probably using ur Linksys as your DHCP Server (assigning IP addresses to computers on ur internal network). the Microsoft wireless router will also have DHCP server functionality. only one of the two should be set as enabled the other should be disabled.

Thank you sir.

Edit: Anyone think Micro$oft is blowing these out because of the new "g" standard coming out?

So are you saying that the base price of these is going to drop down to $69.99 as of tommarrow? If so that would be even better!

Anyone know if VPN works through these routers? We've tested a few wireless with our VPN and only the Linksys seems to work consistently.

You may have to turn off the dhcp server function as outlined above. Some gateway routers do not allow you to do that (don't know about the linksys or the M$ though).

A way around it is to set the wireless router to fixed IP address, since it should always get the same IP from the linksys. You know the linksys' gatway IP address, SN range, and you can assign any IP address within the linksys' range to the wireless router

i would only use these wireless routers as WAPS only, in other words turn off all the other functions. use the linksys router as the main firewall and vpn thru it. this way, ur linksys is creating the vpn tunnel to the other point and the wireless is just another client.

Thx for the info. But I dont' have a Linksys at home this would just be for when I bring my laptop home to work from there and would need VPN connectivity. I believe it needs IPSec passthru, not sure what else.

i believe it does do ipsec pass thru. i was thinking vpn tunnels. sorry.

u'll just be establishing a vpn connection w/ win2k right?

it should work. i've been able to get good reliable connections thru both linksys and netgear. haven't played around too much with this MS one, but i suspect it should work as the win2k vpn connection is an ms thing also.

Where exactly in the electronics section are these located?

I couldn't find any at the Clackamas, OR Target also called the Gateway Target in NE Portland, OR and they had none as well.

Does Target inventory use SKU or model numbers? Which # can I give them so they can check their online inventory system?

Don't recall anything on the box but I'll check when I get home. The receipt shows nothing?

UPC always works. Make sure to get all 12 numbers.

Well, these models haven't been on the store shelves for more than a month or two. So I don't think it's really a "blow out"

No, his boss is an idiot and just wants to get rid of them cause they are listed as 'discontinued.' They are gonna stack them in the aisle and hope they sell hella fast.

For everyone getting the $179- wait a week and try again. Higher volume stores may not reduce prices as quickly, or the people incharge of price tags may be lazy and behind schedule. If its still a no go in a week, ask them to verify that the price doesn't need to be updated.

In my store they were NOT in the electronics section but in the office supply section together with other PC parts (mice, etc.)

This is great! I've been searching for wireless deals for a few weeks now. My question is, will I be able to hook up a Mac G4 and a PC running Win98 on my cable connection? I would have to connect the G4 (don't have an Airport card for it) using an ethernet cable straight to the router. The PC would go wireless. Will either machine be able to configure/manage the router, or will the PC be the only one that can do it? Thanks for you help

The flood of these items on mEbay has begun. I think I'll sit back and get one for really cheap off some sucker who thought he'd make a big profit over there.
