<-- newbie before we start

I noticed that the packaged from Allsat includes a dish 500, which seems to be a good deal since it's dual lnb (?)

I really thinking of getting on this deal but I'm renting a house and we can't drill house in it :/

Was thinking of running the cable from the dish through a window, any suggestions?

Btw the deal ends on Jan 31 2002 so those who want to get in on it order soon

Sorry for bring this back up to the top. I just need a little advice. I got my system last week but have not install it yet. I will be moving mid next month so there is no point of installing the unit now unless I have to. I would however like to take advantage of the ?I like 9? promotion going on until 1/31/02. Is there any way I could just activate service now without installing the system? I don?t mind paying the extra month of service.

I really don?t want to install it now, active service, uninstall next month, move and reinstall it again. ?This would be a real pain in the a@@.?

Please advice what I should do.
If I could activate w/out the installation of the dish, what should I say when I call in?
Thanks a million

Dish Network would not know if you have actually installed it, but you must give them your physical location, along with mailing address and phone number and the receiver and smartcard codes. If you knew your new address and phone, you could call up, give them the info, and be done. Or, you could call up and say it was installed where you are, I don't know if they charge anything if you were to call later and say you have moved, and want to update your data.

just a really quick question for you experts out there...i got the DTV deal a month ago (no commitment etc)..I already cancelled - but would I be able to register under Dish now for the ILike9 program or would I have to buy new hardware? I was gonna order from TSG but it's $100 for the receiver now (including free install), and I dunno, sounds like a bit too much for me...

You can still get the I like 9 deal but you gota hurry...allSat (above post) with self install runs about 50 bucks for the 4922...Jan 31st dead line on that deal... (Ird) receivers are not interchangable...

up go to Allsat and get the basic system for cost of shipping only
or spend $19.00 more and get the 4922 system-well worth the difference
You have to choose the "pro install" credit to get these prices

thanks for the replies...it's gonna be cutting it close for me. anyone know what method allsat uses to ship? they're almost 1200 miles away (MO vs NJ), and if it's slow-as-hell UPS ground i'm SOL

I got my system from Alsat. It came UPS to NY & took about a week.
You could ask about 2nd day air?
And call Dish even before the install. It will take a couple of hours to get the dish set up, then running cable ect...

I just called ALLSAT and signed up, they have a work-around for the 1/31/02 issue, they email you the code on the card, you call Dish and activate. It's not a two-way deal, Dish has no way of knowing whether you were up or not. Then you call back to Dish after you're actually up and receiving, activate again. According to ALLSAT, not a big deal at all. The 9 dollar deal is explained in detail on their site. It looks legit to me, basically they debit/credit the card at the same time. It's an 8-month deal, not a year. I'm currently having trouble getting through to fax back the contract they emailed almost immediately.

Got the email with the receiver and smart card number today at about 4:45. I'll call it in tomorrow. these guys at ALLSAT seem to be doing pretty good to me. Very prompt. I signed up at about Saturday noon.

I almost forgot.
Thanks for the deal rootaxs
This was my experience
I ordered from AllSat as well. Very friendly folks and helpful as well.
Got the PVR501 - Self Install
Installed everything, and let me tell you the satellite aiming was a pain! I found it accidentally btw.
Called DishNet and ordered the I like Nine promotion, asked for my Reciever and Card Numbers.
Also added local channels, and was running within 1hr (after the receiver downloaded all the software).
Now to find a real cheap 2nd receiver

Oh I couldn't prepay a year's worth for additional discount btw. It was one or the other promotion.

yuppers, called into Dish network with the receiver and card numbers ALLSAT emailed to me. Dish guy was very helpful, seemed to know exactly what was up (prolly been AT'd to death) Got signed up fine. First bill will be around $18, cool. Not only that, they offer to bill me by mail. I love it, I don't like auto withdrawals at all, but once I get a bill I set them up as a recurring payee in Quicken, all the benefits gained, no access given.

Thanks rootaxs, this has really been a cool deal so far.

This deal is still good! I contacted AllSat.com to see if I could still do it and they said yes! They'll give you the information to register the system with Dish for the "I Like $9" when you order/after you order so you can register it before the 31st. Sweeet...

Finally got the dish aimed today, what a pain. The elevation was off. Activated over the weekend, just waiting for the channels to show up. Now I have DTV, Dish, and cable.

Can I use a DTV 4x2 multiswitch to replace the SW21? Hook up the 119 and 110 LNBL to LNBA and LNBB on the switch?

No. DTV and Dish switches are not compatable.
DTV uses voltage, while Dish uses tones.
