I don't think they're trying to save money. I'm thinking they want to make sure everyone who got in on time gets their order before taking more orders. At least they're not pulling a Best Buy or something by taking more orders than they can fill.

"Due to overwhelming demand, we are temporarily closing the store to process the orders. Please check back again in a few days!"

This reminds me of that commercial (IBM?) where that company puts up their website and start celebrating when 100 orders come in. Then all of a sudden, that number shoots up in the millions. Funny stuff.

Well, on the initial page, it said something like that the offer ends on April 23rd or when demand becomes to high (not that exact sentence, but something of the sort). They obviously got flooded with orders.

I placed my order yesterday (Sunday) AFTER they posted the "promotion's over" page but BEFORE they were able to pull the site. So my order went through according to the store site. Are they going to honor those orders? I am unable to find the 800 number someone spoke of so I don't know how to contact them. Can someone PM me, please?

Also sent them an email on Sat. when the site was down and this was the response:

soon-to-be-launched retail website has been completed. It was a

DUH! (at Doc Marten, not you Langdon) "Gee I got a few pairs of Doc Martens at 50% off!!! I am filled with glee and joy. I will give them a complimentary rating in exchange for this juicy deal."

What that is called is a bribe. If they just launched the site normally I don't think it would get this type of "overwhelming success."

I can't wait until the higher-ups come back to the web developers in a month. "How come we are no longer achieving overwhelming success? We have managed to only retain 1.5% of the users who initially visited our site! Why won't they now buy more of our product at its ususal inflated price? And what is this I hear about users going to EBAY to buy our products? How could so many people have gotten our products and be offering them so cheap? I don't understand this at all!"

Wow! 72,000 is a helluva lot of people considering most of them probably came from hot deal forums/websites.

Yes its right off of Sheffield on Belmont. But do you know what kind of store that is? its a little more alternative/punk than most stores near lakeview or LP.
