i got the 80gig 5400rpm Compusa branded Maxtor a couple months ago for upgrading my ReplayTV. i dont think you want to run this 7200rpm drive in your RTV, the heat is already significant with 5400rpm, i can't imagine using a 7200rpm drive in there instead...

Storagereview.com measured the WD 120JB's net drive temperature at 17.1 degrees C. It measured the Maxtor D540X 160GB drive at 16.3 degrees C. Not much difference there. However the WD is about a 4dB/A louder than the Maxtor.

Western Digital drives have high failure rates

Can you elaborate on that statement please? I have been running a WD 30 GB for almost a year now with no problems. I check storagereview frequently and the only drives they seem to complain about over there regarding failures are IBM's.
