Whats the deal with the dell systems and the PSU. I should be able to replace it with no proprietary issues right? A PSU is a PSU. I'd like to toss in a enermax 330+ or something decent to suitable good power. Anyone here swapped the PSU in a dimension?

This thread and the link in the first post will explain alot about SATA (Serial ATA). Serial ATA is a newer type of ATA/IDE connector. SATA HD's are usually much faster and responsive then normal ATA.Originally posted by: JJordan
I am an idiot. What is SATA ?

I looked at specs and could not determine power supply capacity. It did say 250W but I was not sure if that was referring to power loading.
They have views but it is difficult to see any inside details. If I do not decide to buy I'll post tomorrow and make 15% available to first PM after post.
I am still leaning towards building the 8KNXP/ P4 2.6C/ 2 512 2700 because I have an Antec SX400 with PIII 500 and two Maxtor 80GB. Probably could do that for around $500.00[/p]
Woo! First post! hey slyfrogger, PM me when you know, I am sitting on the deal, waiting to call tommorow at dell to see what I can do, but if that doesnt work, and you're not gonna use yours...
thx

Estimated ship date is June 18, but from the trend I've been seeing in this thread, sounds like it might ship in the next day or two. I still can't believe how good of a deal this is, and what I really can't believe is that I'm going to be running a Dell as my main computer. It just seems so wrong, after I've been building machines for this long. Hell, name brand anything seems wrong. But at this price, I'm definitely not complaining.
Edit: I thought today (Thursday) was the last day for this deal and that's why everyone was jumping on it. Is this deal also valid on Friday the 6th?

Yeah, same here. I just built the machine I'm on about 2 months ago, and I was planning on keeping it around for at LEAST a good year. However, this deal is just way too hot to pass it up.
BTW, I nominate this thread for Deal of the Year when the time rolls around 6 months from now. It's just sooooo good
