Went to BB(BestBuy) this afternoon and got this sdram for the price of $64.99 excluding tax thru Price Matching(PM) and Rebate.
OM(OfficeMax) has the same sdram on sale for $114.99 with additional Mail-in-Rebate of $25.
BB is better because their Mail-in-Rebate Offer is $50.
Price match this OM price with BB and you'll have the following: $114.99 - $50 = $64.99 excluding tax.

The Rebate Forms are printed at the cashier and the maximum amount allowed for rebate is two(2) sdrams for a total of $100.

Price Matching at BB is not always automatic...I have to argue with them before they finally acceded to the OM sale price...they were trying to PM just the regular OM sdram price.

BTW, the memory chips I got were made by Hyundai. You might get something else...it depends on their stock on hand.

I think you were very lucky to get them to price match something after a rebate - which should not be the case for pricematching. I wonder if anyone else will have the same luck.

Actually, OM's sale price on the RAM is $114.99 before rebate, and the rebate is $25, making the final cost $89.99.

The non-sale price of the RAM at OM is $129.99.

If BB matches the sale price of $114.99, and there is a $50 rebate, then yes, the final cost would be $64.99. A very good deal.

BB wouldn't do this for me, they said the price is the same after rebates, A-holes So just do this, buy the ram for BB sale price of $139.99, leave store, re-enter store, go to customer service and have THEM do the price match after fact. They shouldn't look up their add as they are only concerned with the price you paid and the OM sale price. They probably won't even know about the rebates, so don't bring it up EITHER !!!

Yes, please do. In my local paper OfficeMax did not have an ad this week. I went to OM and they verified that they did not have an ad running the week starting 9/3 and that the ad from the previous week ended on 9/2. Can anyone that has the ad from the previous week show that it is still good this week? A scan would be great, showing the dates for which it is good and the sale price of the memory.

I picked up an Office Max ad insert on my way to Best Buy this evening, and was able to get the price match without hassle. Although they were out of stock, BB gave me a rain check for 2@$114.99. I must purchase or prepay by Sep 9 to qualify for the 2@$50 rebate.

I just went in to BB, said OM had it for $114, and the guy said that because BB had a $50 rebate it was cheaper ($89.99) and they wouldn't match. I mentioned that it shouldn't count since I may never see the rebate, and he said fine, I'll match it but you don't get the rebate...

I walked out with 2x128mb @ $114, and 2 rebate slips...

I went to a Best Buy in Austin TX to pricematch and what not.... Officemax down here has it in the computer for 129.99, BB, for 139.99 and the bastard at BB said he wouldnt give me the rebate....and at $80 after rebate, I didnt care to get around him to get the RAM, so I passed.

We had a flyer two weeks ago for the lower price, but OM said they didnt have a SUnday ad this week.

Woah, funky posting buttons... anyway, I was wondering about a few things with this deal.

1 - does OM have an online coupon list or something? Our recycling guys pick up the papers wednesday and all my sunday ads are gone.

2 - doesn't best buy have a 110% pricematch policy? With this you should be able to get 114.99 - .10(160-114.99) - 50 = $60.49 ... only 4 and a half bucks, but worth the minimal effort involved if this is indeed their pricematching policy.

Most of the sunday ads extend until the end of the week (thus, the saturday sale ending date). A lot of the labor day ads were sunday/moday only, but apparently this wasn't one of them.

I am pretty happy with getting 128mb of decent ram for 89 bucks...but this is the first time I have heard of BB using the NET effect of a rebate to justify their price. Seems to me they are opening themselves up to more PM scams if they start considering rebates into their equations. They have always clung to regular price as their motto to pricematch anyone else...now it is like they are saying they are also PM'ing the effects of rebates too. Might make things interesting.

Hell, I might go in there today just for S&amp;G's to see if I can get that price...but does anyone know if OM has to have the product in stock? Someone in my town went around to many of the local OM stores and bought all the Kingston 128mb Ram!!!

I did this deal and got away with it on 9/3/00. The sale, at OM ended on 9/2/00 (at least in my area).

A couple of tips:

-If you find the ad, just take in the memory page (no dates).

-BB will call (should anyways) the closest OM, if they tell you that they are out of stock. Your reply should be &quot;You are only calling one? There are several OM's in the area (depending on your area) so how can you only go by one?&quot; The salesman that helped me did not want to be calling around to all the OM's to find out! I don't know what the mileage limit is on what they consider local, but fight them about that because you may consider 100 miles or whatever, local for that price!

-Don't be too greedy. They will more than likely PM it to the $114.99 price and you get the $50 rebate. They probably won't be willing to do the extra 10%, plus the more time you bicker about the 10%, gives them more time to change their minds. Remember, the pricematch should be on the original price, not after the rebates. They will probably tell you that &quot;it comes out to about the same price after rebates.&quot; PM's are for original prices!

-The biggest challenge that I ran into, and maybe I got lucky, was the ad and the OM person. If the BB person states about the price being in the ad, the OM person will inform them that they have no ad for this week (once again, this may just be my area). Luckily the BB guy was confused, since he was staring right at the ad, and I told him, it was definitely strange, since I just came from OM and the lady handed me this ad (which she really did). It was the ad that ended on 9/2 though.

I just checked my office max flier today 9/10/00 and the Kingston 128 meg pc100 ram is priced at 119.99 without any rebates. So The Best Buy deal is still on I suppose with the rebate.
