I wouldn't expect one anytime soon. Widescreen will be the standard in the future, for both your desktop and TV, so there's little incentive for Dell to make one, especially considering how well this one seems to be selling.

To all those who are "on the fence" on whether or not to buy this, I'm writing up a review and am going to try to get a bunch of pics up to go along with it as well. It won't be up soon enough to help you decide before this deal ends, but if you happen to resist this time it might help you decide later on.

Oh and any ideas of anything you'd like to know that might help in the review feel free to PM me or email me with any suggestions.

Good news for those who are worried about dead/pixels or backlight issues, I got the second one today and its a flawless as the first. Really wish I didn't have to send one back, but alas, we can't have everything, and to be honest, one of these is more than enough for me. I feel like I actually have more desktop space than I did with a 2001 and 2005 in a dual setup.

Good news everyone. The dell website just updated and now shows my tracking number. The UPS site now recognizes the tracking number and shows that they have picked up the monitor this afternoon (6:35 PM from Nashville, Tenessee). They confirm Dell's shipping estimate about it being delivered Wednsday 9th too.

You can look up my earlier posts but I ordered the monitor saturday noon and it was originally supposed to arrive on the 18th.

In an attempt to get a price adjustment on the 2405 that I received last Friday I was told this by my Dell rep in reference to the $860 price.

..there has been
a company-wide memo that this monitor is not to be sold at that price.
Any monitors sold at that price will cause an automatic cancellation of
the order.

Just a heads up for those thinking about getting in on this deal.

Speaking with a rep now and as I am talking he is checking to see if they are shipping this unit yet, as it is a "new item". hehe I told him I've spoken with others who have alreasy received it and he is checking into it. He just came back and gave me a $925 plus tax price. I told him I had spoken with other reps who gave $849 as the price. He then told me he got an email stating that they could go no lower than $925 and that he would not be able to get it for me at $860. I never even mentioned the $860 price. lol

Oh well, to try again...

Speaking with a gentleman now who says he can give it to me for the $860 price, but they will not take my Dell Preferred Account as payment. He said that account may only be used to pay for Home purchases. I advised him that I have used it to purchase from Small Business before and he is researching it. It doesn't look good for me.


UPDATE...

Tried and died. Oh well. I should look at it as saving $900 instead of $300. lol My poor 20.1" FPW has never looked small to me before now. lol Congrats to those who are able to get this. I've now got monitor envy.

I know the Dell price is hard to beat, just wanted to mention that for consideration.

To the contrary I have had a very easy time getting Dell to replace my LCDs for any imperfection at all. Just blame it on backlight and a new one will be on the way including an airbill for return shipping . It just takes a while on the phone with New DELLi.
