I tried calling both gage and brad. None of them were available.
However, brad has a recording that says he's working on the price and he might be able to get it at a lwoer price than 860.
He asked us to leave name and phone number. He also said that if a lower price cannot be offered, the $860 will still be available for monday or tuesday.

I emailed Gage yesterday, but he has not responded.

Ctrain: Can anyone verify that HDTV pictures on this monitor is on PAR with a normal HDTV ??

There are only a few *LCDs* that can natively handle the full resolution of 1080i HD signals (1920 x 1080). As LCDs are progressive displays by nature, this unit should be able to handle 1080p. Outside of the computer display arena, I am only aware of two displays, the Sharp AQUOS 45" and the Samsung 46", that can do 1080p. At this time, I only intend to use my 2405FPW as an HD display. If it does its job, I may never connect it to a computer.

auto: anyone knows the manufacturer of this LCD, I've seen Benq ?

Someone on AVSForum stated that these units are put together by Benq using Samsung panels.

i don't know about 1080P, But this baby should be perfect for 1080i. I have read great things about using the Apple 23" display as a HD monitor and i don't see why this would be any different.

i shall run some nice visual tests between it and my 30" Sony HDTV when i finally get my monitor on monday/tuesday for you guys.

I will also takes some pics with it next to a 2001FP for those interested in running dual monitor with one of each.

Also one last thing, Each of these panels has over 2 million pixels. Has anyone found a dead one on theirs yet?

No dead pixel for me.

Actually, this is the first thing I did.

I previously bought the 2005fpw and I returned it not because of backlight issue but its kinda poor as a TV monitor.
Even with DVD using a S-video cable, the pictures seem like its been blown up.

Buying the 2405fpw, I was hoping the component inputs would make a diffrence.
Well, it does but the DVD quality is still not up to par as normal HDTV.
I mean, from 4-5 feet out, the pictures look real good but closer, it looks blown up.

I don't have a HDTV source so I don't know what it look like.
Can anyone verify that HDTV pictures on this monitor is on PAR with a normal HDTV ??

I mean if Dell were to make this monitor picture quality as good as their LCD TV, then it would cut into the LCD TV sales big time.
If you were to view this monitor as a computer monitor first and TV monitor second, then I would give it an A+.

Still would like to hear if DHTV on this monitor is as good as a normal HDTV.

I will hook this bad boy up Monday and let you know. I will be using an HD DVR from Time Warner, and if it looks good I'll have to order a second HD DVR

I'll compare it to my Sony 57" HDTV and let you guys know how well it does in DVD, and HD. I have a progressive scan DVD-R recorder, as well as an XBOX with a progressive scan hack (doesn't help much)

Andy, Renee, Gage Tucker all shot me down.
Timothy Ness offered me the deal no questions asked.
$860 + tax + free 2 day shipping.

Dell just seems a bit shadier and shadier as the years go by. What other major company has such variable deals, offers different people differing amounts to not return stuff, offers digital cameras, printers, concesssion coupons instead of price matches, or any combo of these with no predictability?

I have friends who work at Dell and when you buy a computer system, I heard it costs them about $350 or so to recondition, repackage, etc.....so that's why they offer $100 back no problem if you threaten to return. Milk it for another $100 at the very least.
Of course, if you really don't want it, don't accept any amount of concession crap.

It's possible that these guys sold too many and it's screwing up their paycheck. I've been on commission before and usually there is a margin requirement for bonuses.

These guys are on commission and odds are they have some kind of bonus schedule set up. If it's true, Tim told me that the markup on these is pretty small and that although he gets "credit" for the sale, it's not really helping him.

We're talking about Small Business division here.
The Reps are gievn certain amount of flexibility to keep their clients happy.
Also, someone have said that the reps in India have to meet vertain quotas so maybe they ones that made their qouta no longer need to sell the 2405 at $860.

I got mine last night and haven't been able to find one, which is quite amazing. What I am finding are tiny dust specs

Dust specs?

Anyone know if you can pick up from UPS before delivery? Mine is in L.A., but probably at a distribution center.

ah dangit.. mine's only ~1hr away, but I have a feeling that it's 'somehow' going to take till tuesday to navigate those ~50miles. I wish I could just drive out there and pick it up.

I picked up mine last night at the distribution center, but that is because they tried to deliver it and I wasn't home.

Dust specs - when you stare at the monitor long enough, trying to find dead pixels, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I dont think the indians care if dell makes any money, they were told to sell sell sell! thats what they are doing..maybe this will teach Dell a lesson for outsourcing everything to another country that dont really care about their bottomline.

Mine is in Los Angeles Ca, so i called and asked if i could pick it up. But she said it was at the LAX distribution center and that it won't reach the marina del ray distribution center until monday. (these two places are like 2 miles away from eachother) oh well, guess i will be getting the package monday.

if I remember correctly, you can't pickup @ the MDR center. You'd have to pick it up in Gardena.

my fedex packages always go straight from LAX to Marina del ray to my house which is great since i live in santa monica. I hope my package actually gets to MDR before closing tonight, cause they are usually nice and let me pick up packages before they go to ship. I guess illl just be OCD and keep hitting the refresh button on my tracking page.
