I got excited too and ordered it for 1079, but I canceled the order and reordered for 918 total. I just ordered about an hour ago...estimated ship date 3/17. Hopefully it will be much sooner than that.

Whoa! I ordered around 12:00 PST today and my ship date is 3/17 with an estimated delivery date of 3/21.

I've seen multiple posts claiming that Dell ships items much faster than their estimates, so here's hoping it's true. Either way, I can't wait to have this screen in front of me.

I'm beginning to think that Dell assigns these seemingly random shipping dates according to geographic location (maybe which warehouse to ship from), but most will actually ship well before the posted date....

(I'm losing hope though, that my 3/05 order will ship today )

Mine stared out today with a ship date of 3/17 after placing the order earlier this morning. But after checking it agan 4-5 hours later it states what I posted above. Only on one occasion...and I don't remember what it even was, has Dell not shipped well before that first date you see listed when your order first appears on the web site.

I'm looking to upgrade to the AGP version of the X800XL, once released, but MEANWHILE... Will my 9800 Pro (128MB, 350 core) be able to push this 24" beast?!

I don't watch tv or play dvd's on my PC, but I do play Battlefield 1942 & certain other FPS's on a daily basis @ 1280x1024 on my current 17" LCD.

Well, it wouldn't be all that odd (actually, this happens most of the time, in my experience) for UPS tracking info to take ~24hrs to show up on the website. Yeah, I know it sounds like what every customer service rep says for every retailer, but it's true

Just ordered mine........$917 after tax............can't wait for this. Right now I'm using a Liquidvideo 17" LCD right now and the quality isn't that great. Just hope the wife doesn't kill me when this shows up.

I called UPS and they dont have a record of my tracking numbers, they said give it another 24hours then call the shipper to start a trace. While i understand that the process takes time, I just cant wait.... its killing me!!!!!!!!!! Tracking refresh in 5...4...3...2...1..DAMN!

I am using a 21" CRT, a viewsonic P810, should I upgrade?? I am glad I bought a 21" monitor 10yrs ago, or else I'd be upgrading from probably 15" to a 17" than to a 19" than to this 21". It's actually saving me money.

I'm currently pushing my 2005 w/ a oc'ed 9700Pro and HL2 (w/o AF or AA) runs smooth at the native res. of 1680x1050 with the widescreen options enabled in the game. It even plays acceptable at 2xAA (again w/o AF).

But that doesn't mean a video card upgrade isn't in my future either

richardycc for some reason it won't let me quote you. Anyway we're in the same boat I'm replacing my P810(8 yrs old) with this bad boy, whether it's a good decision I can't tell you but I did replace my other systems G810 with a viewsonic vp201b less than a year ago for MORE than I paid for the 2405fpw. I've had mixed feelings purchasing a dell monitor with all that's happened in the last few months and almost got a matching vp201 to replace the P810 last week(good thing i waited.) So far people who have received the 2405 seem happy which is why I took the plunge.
In short should you grab an LCD to replace your P810? YES!
Should you pick this particular LCD? It depends on your personal experience(brand loyalty, price vs. performance, past experience with manufacturer)
