Thanks, I just checked but they were out. I guess their system wasn't updated.

I just checked stores. If you don't see your store #, that particular store is OOS.
2118 has 1.
659 has 2.
I actually drove over there and first looked around but didn't see it so then I asked someone to check the system. I think it showed up but the guy asked someone else who said they didn't have it anymore. Anyway, thanks for checking for me.Originally posted by: Excelsior
Did you check immediately after my post? And they might have not felt like looking for the one in their system, so they just told you no.

Thank you very much kind sir. I picked one up after I saw your post (they indeed had 2 left) and I just set it up. Awesome little printer. The duplex printing alone is worth the 40 dollars.
Originally the guy said they had none, so I went over to office max to check out the printer and see what the box looked like... realizing that I saw that exact box at Office Depot, I mosied on over back, and sure enough, it was the right printer. It was way up top of the store, they had to get a ladder just to get it down.

330 still had it listed but they couldn't find it, they don't think it's there--and they looked high low fron to back...thanks though. Luckily it was the store only a mile from me

So today I went to the Wheaton, MD store and happened on a helpful clerk.
According to the computer, 1 in stock at that store, five other nearby stores had 0 in stock, and Conn. Ave, Washington DC store had 2 in stock. He said that the one at their own store was a display and they couldn't sell those unless the item was discontinued. The inventory system claimed it wasn't discontinued or on clearance - he said that they would be getting another shipment on one of three days this week, but he didn't know which day. I said that I thought it was actually discontinued, and pointed out that it had dropped in price by $200 and that most of the other stores were out of stock, but his manager said no (come to think of it, it wasn't *on* display on the shelf), and I asked for a raincheck. He said they didn't do rainchecks, but offered to hold me one at the DC store. DC store didn't pick up the phone after ten minutes, so instead I went down there immediately to check it out without a hold.
The DC store checked their inventory system, which said they had *three* in stock - but they weren't on the shelf. The clerk called over the manager, who said "I told the guy from the other store that called a few minutes ago (I guess he got through eventually) that we were out. Remember, that was one of the things we pulled aside to transfer out of the store a little while ago". Then the clerk remembered that he'd set one aside for somebody three days ago, but they'd never picked it up - and he said he'd sell it to me.
I walked out two minutes before closing with what I believe is the last available printer in the DC/MoCo area.
Both the clerk and cashier raised an eyebrow when they saw the price tag, and said they wouldn't mind picking one up for themselves.
----------------
So what's the deal with the inventory transfer? Maybe this whole thing is because they decided to stop selling Samsung(not one Samsung printer was on the floor at either location) or something and that another chain offered to clean up inventory they couldn't sell after a week for $40/pop?
Tip for those looking - before you scour the store, find a clerk on the floor and ask him to look up a SKU for you. Then, stand behind him and watch the monitor. Some are false positives, but I don't think any false negatives.

Hmm, maybe they're blowing out these printers to sell their expensive refill toners. I noticed the toner refill on the ml2851nd is $168 at OD. That seems a bit pricey to me.
