Wow, this is a nice printer. The control you have over it using Ethernet is impressive. Very happy with it and thanks again Ex!

When I registered, the manufacture date said 12/31/07, so the toner is 1-1/2 years old, but it seems to be perfectly fine.

Wouldnt that make it 6months old? Not too shabby, Im gonna try to snag one if I can. With 3 laptops and one gaming rig Id love the ethernet capability.

DOH!

You're welcome. I hope you enjoy. I plan on keeping mine in the box for when I move out and need a printer for a house.

I've had one for several months, and have run 6 or 7K pages through it, mixed duplexed and not, using almost exclusively decent quality (but not great) general purpose/copier paper

Good grief! I guess this printer will work for me just fine then... I doubt I'll print 2K pages in the expected lifetime of this printer. (I just wanted something to print things like maps, recipes, and instructions on that wouldn't bleed when a hint of moisture came along)

Well, my wife is a teacher, and while she (and the other teachers on her grade team) have laser printers in their classrooms, by the middle of the year they were all out of toner, and the school had no money to buy more. So I ended up printing worksheets, tests, etc., for all the teachers in her team - I guess that was my contribution to the education of our future leaders (or whatever they'll be...)

Said they were holding it for someone but they never showed up....
Lucky me right?

Edit:
Reporting a little late.
Got mine on Monday.

Store# 2171 has 2.

Sorry, I am not working till Sunday. Do as havoti said...just call them, give them the SKU, and ask if they have any left.

Nope, that would be the twin $100 rebates on the Minolta 1350W that brought it down to $8.

The deal should still be going on. As far as I can tell, it was a permanent price change...like a clearance. I am not working again till Sunday, however, so I can't check any stores for anyone till then.

Snagged the last one in Denver, or so it seems. OD on Hampden in Englewood was saying they have a display model, but when I showed up, it was sealed on a shelf. Sweet, my last Samsung just started running out of toner, this is cheaper than getting a new toner cartridge... And, it seems it has built-in duplexing...

Pricier than normal memory....

It looks like a proprietary module using SDRAM. In exhibit A, we can see a picture of the Samsung CLP-MEM301 memory module: http://www.cendirect.com/main_...ch_specs_JO77160H.html. As you can see, there are 2 notches. Now in exhibit B is your standard SDRAM SODIMM: http://www.computermemorystore.com/ki25pc14so.html. The difference? Only 1 notch. I rest my case your honor.

It is certainly not a standard PC100 laptop sodimm - it is 100 pin rather than 144 pin. If by "proprietary" you mean Samsung only - I don't think so, since there are a number of manufacturers. I think this form factor is used in some other printers and other embedded apps (like routers). The problem is that I can't find enough specs on the Samsung part to be sure about which alternatives are likely to work, but some possibilities (128MB) include: Major Memory, Memoryx (both around $50) and PCMemoryStore, around $30 (all including lowest cost shipping). So far I haven't run into a need for more RAM, but when I put this thing on the network and/or ship it more complex postscript to handle, additional RAM might be useful. I might be willing to gamble on the $30 part, even if they are unlikely to take it back if it doesn't work...

t's just a regular memory stck. As long as you know the speed, you can use any brand of memory.

Xerox charges $592 for 256MB of memory for my printer. I put a spare 512MB stick from an upgrade I did and it works fine.
