I have gone to two(2) stores in the NYC area, and called three(3) others --- none stock these. According to the manaer of one of the stores that I did go to, the STAPLES stock number IM1595048, stands for INGRHAM MICRO, one of the their distributors. That also means it is a 'special-order' item, available only thru the catalog or the web site.

So ... for those who already picked these up from STAPLES, exactly how did you do it? Is there another stock code number for these in B&M's? If so, can you let us know the number?

These are good speakers. I had the Fourpoint surround a few years back and they were excellent, I liked watching DVDs on my computer versus watching them or videos on my home entertainment center. Nice crisp sound, fine deep bass I was very surprised at the sound these speakers put out. These were also the longest lasting speakers I had (used them for two years) with all the deals I find here I change them now every 6 months *grin*.

BTW if you go to Fry's to find them, look everywhere for them. They leave the returned ones on the floor but the unopened ones above. They also have the OEM version of these speakers in a plain brown box, these are not on sale as they are still $29.99, kinda silly no?

The logitech 340s are definitely better. The slim500s are also better. But for $8, you cant go wrong! Staples still does let you PM and then apply a coupon. But the stores in San Francisco dont let you use the $10 off $10 coupon for some reason.

I have an old set of PC Works and I think they are awesome for the money. I like them much better than the Labtec Pulse 424's, much better than the Logitech X1's (had both pair) and I even like them better than my Logitech Z560's. The more that I live with my Z560's, the more I think they're junk.

Anyway.. These speakers are a definite no brainer for anything near $20 a pair. I might just pick up a set and I don't even need another set of pc speakers. I can use them somewhere and look at what you typically get for $20. You typically get those POS speakers without a sub.

I have a set of Labtec Pulse-424's, also a 2.1 setup. My sound card is a CL X-Gamer Live! 5.1. If I get these, is there some way I can have both sets of speakers hooked up to my card for a 4.2 setup?

These speakers are garbage. I had a set of them and because they were improperly shielded, they picked up radio signals all their own. I told CS about this and they basically told me to p!ss off, saying that I should buy an additional radio signal suppression part. No thanks CS, ill just get speakers that work instead. Moreover, the sound is tinny, and the subwoofer is flimsy and lacks depth.

I ended up getting ACS55's a while back and have been happy with them. thick, shielded wires mean no radio signals. Plus the subwoofer is a lot sturdier and heavier than the CS sub. I would strongly advise AGAINST the CS speakers. the only reason i believe that they ever got good reviews is that Creative and CS are in bed with all the major hardware reviewers. Its the only plausible explanation to the undeserving praise. Everyone is so afraid to criticize anything by Cambridge because it was started by Henry Kloss, but keep in mind that CREATIVE owns them now, and they are merely a subsidiary, apparently lacking quality control.

I grabbed the Staples $10 off $10 but they wouldn't let me use it. They said I might as well tear it up b/c it's fake. They had a copy of it at the register with a big X through it to make sure people don't use it. So good luck.

Terrific fidelity on these speakers. I paid $70 for them (black) about a year ago. Really nice setup.

Great deal! I just bought these directly from Outpost using a Wingspan/bankone ecard to get another 5% off. Don't have a Staples locally but this is still a great deal. Thanks for the post.

Did I do something wrong or is Staples just trying to avoid their 110% pricematch policy?

I ordered the speakers from Staples and then submitted their price match form citing the Outpost.com URL.
Staples refused the pricematch request because [they say] the rated power of their speakers are different (6w) than the Outpost.com specs (3.5w).

Arrrgh! Shipping for me makes the deal $26.80! Do you think they are still worth it?

I currently have an Altec-Lansing AVS300 3 piece which I got from Sams for $24.99+tax AR. I am not at all pleased with them as there is very poor response and not much volume - wimpy ass system I wish I'd never purchased.

What do you think? Go for it for $26.80 or wait for another deal?

Is there a discrepency in the reviews and this product? These speakers don't sell for $99! They retail for $40. I think the reviews were probably for the Soundworks Digital, though Creative Labs site has similar reviews for this set.

Anyway, they can still be had for free from HiFi.com for using their mastercard (deal on homepage). Spend $25 and wait 8-12 wks. You also get $30 coupon (3000 e-wards points) that can be used at HiFi.com or Cambridge Soundworks stores for future purchases. I'm saving to get a set of speaker stands for my digital satellites and giving the Soundworks away.

Here's what happened to me at staples today (I guess I'm happy!):

Brought in the 19.99 advertisement and asked them to find me the speakers. They didn't have them in stock so they substituted with Creative Labs Inspire 2.1 2400 3 Piece Speaker Set (black). They rang up at 39.98, pricematched 110% to $17.99. I bought some other stuff to bring my total to just over $30. I had an old $10 off $30 coupon (one of the yellow email varities) that had expired, so I just cut out the yellow coupon and tried to use it. The girl had no luck entering the code into the system so she pulled out a different one from the draw and used that one!! I know I got lucky with 1) expired coupon and 2) using a coupon with a pricematch.

Here are the speakers I got substituted

So total cost was ~$8!!

Thanks sleeper5555!

Just to let you guys know, this product is a 3-4 year old product. It retailed for $99 about 3 years ago, and since has obviously been beaten out of the ring by all the new technologies and systems......

still, IF you can pricematch+coupon and find a staples that still actually sells this item, its very much worth 10 bucks IMHO

Thanks! I picked these up at Fry's and I must say they sound great with my Lite-on 16x DVD player. Not bad for 20 bucks. Good Deal!
