They had that for $9.95 once but $19.95 works. I have a couple of them and they work ok for a cheap router. Still can't get MS messenger voice to work behind it or even in DMZ. Must be a MS problem.

thanks for the info. I just picked up two. this is the 2602 version as opposed to the 2601 version I see too. I don't know the difference but thanks for the hot deal.

btw while I was in the store there was some computer novice looking at wireless routers and cards and I said, "if you don't mind running a little cable you can network two computers in your house for under $50." and he ended up only needing the router (no nics) anyway. This is a great deal just for the firewall.

Thanks again.

Network OS Support: Microsoft® Windows® Me
Microsoft® Windows® 2000
Microsoft® Windows® 95
Microsoft® Windows® 98
Microsoft® Windows® NT 4.0

Does this mean no official XP support?

I don't believe the os is relevant. You should be able to assign a static ip or use dhcp in any os.

ie. they don't list win3.1 but it would probably work fine.....you would have problems but they would not be related to the router

Between two computers it works but will it work if I want to share a PC with a PS2 (for online gaming)?

Dummy question before I pick one up; I have a 4-port Netgear router/switch with one port being used for 100' of Cat5 to the basement for an HTPC. If I pick this router up can I split the internet connection between the HTPC and another PC located in the basement?

Microcenter has Hawking PN9249 4-port Cable/DSL router with 10/100 WAN port for $19.99 after MIR.
I don't know how good the router, but 4-port is better than 2-port

How does the firewall work in these routers? Can you login to them via a web page and open/close ports? Can you just disable it all together?

I already have two 8 port switches, so I just want a cheap router that either allows you to change the settings or just doesn't have a firewall at all.

What does that mean? Plug what, where?

OOS at South San Francisco store. The manager said he doesn't expect any more to come in. Will check the Pleasanton store today.

A bunch more of you guys bought one... Now, can any of you tell me about the built-in firewall in this thing? I'm going to be driving by CompUSA later on today, so I need to decide if this router is worth getting.
