DEAL OVER!

Extremely hot Dell desktop deal. Starting Thursday at 8:00am Central Time, save $750 on select Dell Dimension desktops priced at $1,499 or more with coupon code XXXXXX. They are also offering free flat panel monitor and optical drive upgrades on most models. Only one coupon may be applied per cart at checkout. This is a limited quantity offer, with only 15,000 systems available for purchase with this coupon code. This offer will expire at 5:59am CDT on 4/26/05 or when the limited quantity available are sold, whichever comes first.

Might be a good idea to pair a nice desktop with a big 20" LCD for around $750 shipped.

This one has 5000 more uses than last time so I bet a little over an hour.

I'm happy, here is my chance to get the 2405 LCD for a great deal. I haven't configured a dell in a while, is it possible someone can help me configure the cheapest one with the 2405 included?

Does the coupon apply to other accessories you add to the cart? I need a new steering wheel, too...

That was the first thing which I thought of as well. Looking over the models, the 8400 is the cheapest one I saw which offered the 2405FPW upgrade as a possibility. The 4700 tops out at the 2001FP/2005FPW models, and the 3000 with the 19 inchers. You have to presume that the systems are going to sell for base price once the 750 off coupon is applied. The stock 8400 model is $1,099 at full boat, you have to presume the 2405 will be full price ($1,049), drop the coupon on top and you're at $1,398 plus tax. Barely above room temperature hot IMHO.

Plus you'd have to wait for the 24" to come in stock. I personally will look for something along the lines of a nicely equipped 8400 or a loaded 4700.

Or split the difference and get a nicely equiped (but not loaded) 4700 and upgrade to a 1905FP or 2005FPW and perhaps toss in a digital camera (Canon A95 anyone?). Voila, a electronics variety pack for $750 or a bit over. Sure, you'd get the system configured with a 3.0 rather than 3.4, a Soundblaster Live rather than an Audigy, and some other tradeoffs like that, but picking and choosing a la carte items you really want/need might be the way to play this deal.

Who knows, maybe they will add that crazy, SAVE $XXX and upgrade your free lcd to a 2005FPW for only like 200$ .

There is nothing to work with here. The base model of the 8400 is already $1100, and crappy at that. The $350 with the free 17in LCD last week was a much better deal. It's hard to justify $1100 for a 2.8ghz computer with minimal performance parts when I have an Athlon 64 sitting at home that is superior in every way from looks to ventilation to performance for about half the price.

I don't know about you guys, but the good ultrasharp monitor add-ons are more expensive than if you buy it standalone. 20%+ more expensive... =/

the 2405fpw isn't an option on any computer ... or so it seems right now

trying to decide whether i should try and get a "loaded" 8400 or a basic one with the 2005fpw ... not as sweet as the 2405fpw that I was eyeing up last night though :-(

That's about what I picked up. Used the 2% DPA coupon and saved a bit more.
