I just got that and decent 1&2 since NEITHER if these games worked on my xp rig. In the fine print they claim to made these work even on vista, so Im getting them again for they were my favorite back in the day.

Sweet. I picked up Descent / Descent II and will try patching in the Vertigo Series missions (another full-length Descent II campaign). The image quality and smoothness doesn't approach the Glide-accelerated version from olden days, but the gameplay is still very absorbing. I was playing Level 13 (and its associated Secret Level) until 2:30AM last night :Q

Unfortunately the colors are a bit corrupted, and the Redbook audio can't be turned down, so I had to disable it. But still, good times :thumbsup:

Tip for new Descent players: you can prop doors open with a carefully-placed marker. Press F4 when you're right in the plane of the door.

Wow - getting tips on descent
This was one of my favorite games - I purchased 3dfx voodoo card and a creative labs sound card and more memory just to play this game. The Glide (OpenGL visuals) was fantastic and the IPX network play was great (although tricky to set up). I forget what third party software and drivers I had to learn (precursor to GameSpy?).

There is a version out there that has been ported to play on modern PCs but I have not had the time to get it up and running. This was an excellent way for me to revisit the mines. The game just installed and loaded up on my Vista setup.

A few hours left to buy ... I picked up Fallout Tactics from GoG a couple of weeks ago and have a 2 copies each of FO 1-2 (box & jewel case) so I'm good.
