finally got in on the deal.

I was turned down 5 times by staples.com saying that the compusa price was clearance and that they dont PM clearance.

So, I went down to the local staples B&M and tried the PM again. The manager said that he will have to call compusa and make sure its not clearance since they dont PM clearance. By some stroke of luck the compusa guy on the phone told the staples manager that it was the regular price at Compusa and not clearance. So, after the 110% PM and the 10 off 40 coupon its $62 + tax before rebate.

I called Staples this morning. After checking the CompUSA web site and consulting with her supervisor, a CRS told me I can buy one with CompUSA price.

I said I thought Staples has 110% guarantee. She deducted another 10%. The total with tax was $77.73.

I also picked the last one from Highland Park, IL. It might give my wife a hand to avoid getting lost.

Well, I didn't feel like bothering with a PM and possible "overnight" shipping charges. I was able to find a couple of them at my local CompUSA though. I am wondering if it's a good idea or not. Has anyone looked into the quality of this unit? Any reviews out there somewhere? It's going to cost about $37 for me with taxes and the rebate (in another four months!), and I'm thinking maybe I should just go with one of the basic GPS models that cost around $80. Grrr, buyer's remorse. Just another $87 drop in the bucket.

I think I have to answer my earlier question as to whether or not these are worth it. Well, considering people are willing to pay around $90-$110 for these on ebay, I guess you can't go wrong getting one for under $90 before the rebate. Now, should I go back to CompUSA and buy another...

Has anyone confirm that CompUSA is indeed a participating retailer?

I hesitated when I saw TCA rebates is doing the fulfillment on this one, but at $20.99 net after tax and MIR, it is worth the risk.

I got mine in Knoxville, from Staples with the 110% price match, AND they honored the $10 off $40 purchase coupon! The GPS isn't exactly state of the art, (had mine 2 days), but for $12, who's bitching!

SCORE! Got one for $17.40 at Staples after PM/coupon/rebate. Not as advanced as my Garmin Streetpilot, but I paid over $500 for that one a few years back with all the accessories needed to make it useful (mem card, map CD's, car adapter, etc). Big thanks to the original poster of this deal!

My brother got two at a Compusa in Happauge (Long Island), NY. One for me, one for him.

Compusa.com doesn't show the price anymore, but luckily he brought a copy of the web page because the price rang up at the register for $129.99. He showed them the web page and they price-matched to $79.99. Not a great a deal as some of you have been getting at Staples, but we weren't going to risk missing out for a few bucks.

Now, the only question is, will the rebate company honor the rebate since his name shows up on both receipts even though the units were not for the same person?

The CompUSA web site never showed a price of $79.99. Before they corrected the error, it showed a price of $49.99 ($149.99 - $50 IR - $50MIR) . The error was corrected the next day,

Yes it did at one time I took a printout of the 79.99 to the store, but threw it away once I bought it. It shows as 79.99, but you could not order online.

THIS DEAL IS NOT DEAD...Just PMed @ 2:00 PM TODAY PST. Just call 1-800-338-0252 (thanks puppyfriend) and complain that they wouldn't pricematch. Give them both item numbers and tell them even though the item has been taken down on CompUSA's website, that it is still in stock at several stores across the USA. They'll pricematch it, might take 10 mins. on hold time.
