it is supposed to come with DVD decoder software (Power DVD), which, with the drive is all you need to play movies

Yes, it has PowerDVD, just an old version, but you can download the patch to make it work w/ XP.

Got mine yesterday and installed it without any problem. It came with PowerDVD 3.0, but I uses my version 4.0. It plays smoothly without any hiccup. Some improvement from my previous 8X drive.

Mine arrived today. Was a little disappointed to see that the PowerDVD was ver 3.0, but can't complain about the price for a super DVD player. Fast delivery on this full retail box too, quite unusual for Dell..

it's on its way for me today! it shipped from sunnyvale, ca last night at 11:00pm...arrived at oakland, ca at 12am...my house is actually right inbetween the two cities so they should have dropped it off on the way now it says out for delivery! shipped monday night, receiver tuesday! sweet!...

Question: i have an old Creative Labs VooDoo Banshee card...can i watch the dvd's on it? and where would i get PowerDVD 4.0? how come 3.0 is so disappointing? TIA

I am just ordering this drive now and it is cheaper than when I was going to order it before. Now it is only $42.35 shipped ($2.02 in tax). I'm pretty sure when I ran it through before (but didn't order) it was $45.xx.
