OK heres the story...
I took my car to Vista Volkswagen in Pompano Beach FL early december for a timing chain guide noise. They agreed to replace all the timing chains and guides under warranty. After 2 weeks i call in to find out the story with my car. They were like "Sorry man.. the new chain snapped and bent the valves." This made me mad, but finally 4 weeks later i get my car back every cent was covered by Vista Volkswagen.
I drive the car for 4 days and my clutch plate shatters. I take the car to Gunter Volkswagen in Coconut Creek FL to have the clutch done. Finally early this week i get my car back. Today i slam on my brakes and my oil light starts flashing and i hear the crank starving for a couple seconds as im coming to a stop then the light stops and the noise goes away. I immediately determined i was dangerously low on oil so i creeped the car home and checked the dipstick. NO OIL SHOWED UP ON THE STICK!!. turns out i was 3 quarts low in my engine... So i check underneath the car to see if i had a leak, and their is a dent in my oil pan. Now i am furious! I call my friend who works at gunther and he said the tech that worked on my car didnt touch my oil, and noticed the dent in the pan when it came in, but forgot to mention it to me. Which leads me to the following conclusions.
1. Vista Volkswagen was the last place to do my oil when my engine was dissassembled. I checked and i have zero oil leaks on my car, and my car does not burn oil. Therefore Vista Volkswagen only put 3 quarts of oil in my car when they worked on it last.
2. My oil pan was prestine when i brought it into Vista Volkswagen, no dents, no nothing. I drive VERY CAREFULLY around all obstructions and have NEVER bottomed the car out. The area where Vista Volkswagen is located is around heavy road construction. This leads me to believe that either the tech or a porter took my car out for an abuse session. I have evidence to support this because my friend also had his car worked on at Vista Volkwagen, and he got his car back with a bad dent in his oil pan.
3. My clutch disc shattered 4 days after i recieved my car from Vista Volkswagen. I never drive violently on my car, never "power" or "full-throttle" shift on my car, because it causes things to break. When the clutch broke i did a regular shift from 2nd to 3rd at redline getting on the highway. This leads me to believe that whoever drove my car at Vista Volkswagen horribly abused it.
All of this has lead to $1300 in damage to my car. It could of been far far more if i didnt catch the little oil shortage i had. What should i do? Should i hire a lawyer? How do i present this to the manager of Vista Volkswagen. Do you shink i have a case here, or can be recompensated for any damages?
My car is a 1998 VW GTi VR6. I am the 3rd owner
