Came across this deal tonight.....

It's a Mustek Portable DVD Player with 7" Wide Screen Color LCD.....this place is selling it for $159. The cheapest I've found so far has been upwards of $275--and out of stock. This seems really cheap to me, and he claims to have them in stock too.

I ordered one...hopefully it holds true.

They've got a Lexmark 4800 dpi 4-in-1 Printer with Flatbed Fax Scanner Copier for $100 too. That's at least $75 cheaper then the cheapest I've found..

Long time reader of the good deals here...glad I had a chance to return the favor...

This reseller has fewer than 20 reviews in the past 6 months.

Prices sound right if what you say is true.

They had a deal on a Dell 8500 last month for $950. I ordered one of those right off and it came in fine and works great. It doesn't look like any of those are on the site anymore--i'm sure they went like hotcakes.

I'm not sure where this guy is getting his deals, but I hope he keeps it up!

Can't wait for the DVD player...that thing will go great in my car.

From whois of bigdaddydeals.com:
Record created on 12-Jul-2003

They just opened less than a month ago AND their contact email is bigdaddydeals@hotmail.com. This sounds a little shady and like self advertising but I could be wrong...

[EDIT]: to top it all off they only accept paypal... hmm

Nope....just came across them last month when I ordered my laptop. Someone else sent me the link then and I've been checking in every now and then over the past few weeks. Threw it on a credit card with insurance just in case, but it came in fine.

Been leaching deals off you guys for a while now. Just wanting to return the favor.....

I gotta admit that sounds mad shady as well. However, we should see how this pans out. Every cheap company always has to start somewhere to become reputable.

Sp nobody here has ever paid using paypal? I know that I have. And I also know a lot of start up business's will use paypal to process and hotmail address's as they don't have the initial cash flow to do a clean start up.

I believe that Tigerdirect is using a Yahoo.com storefront now. They have been around for years.

The point is to flag it for people checking it out, hello? Now go change your tampon and come back in a few days when you're feeling better.

I hate websites that have thumbnails and say click on them to enlarge and all it does is show the same damn picture again. Because of this, I won't oder from any company that does this.

Here is a list of problems I would be cautious about:
1) This post is by someone who just signed on to the forums and has not posted in any other thread except this one
2) The domain was created less than a month ago
3) The original poster claims to have ordered stuff last month which is when they JUST opened.
4) They are selling a printer for $100 when the next chepeast place I could find sells it for $163. Even the Mustek DVD player, there was a thread for $179 a while ago which was considered blazing hot and now this is cheaper? So basically their prices seem TOO GOOD to be true.
5) They only allow payments through paypal (and as bmortensen has said Paypal does accept credit cards) BUT paypal offers very little protection against fraud and if you pay with a credit card you are not allowed to reverse charges against paypal since they don't want to be screwed for not offering better fraud protection.
6) The site seems to be thrown together using an eCommerce system and it looks like not a whole lot of work has been put into it since there are very few items for sale and not the best descriptions.

Now any one of these would be fine, but all 6 together throws up red flags for me. If some trustworthy people order from them and have good things to say then maybe I would jump in and take a shot but otherwise I wouldn't dare.

And for you jerks who want to say "you're not a MOD, go crap elsewhere".. Like it was stated before, not everyone on here has the same cautious attitude as I do and therefore is likely to be scammed (the posts about ebay/paypal/cc fraud is enough to show that enough people on here lack the common sense to see through scams). My post was only to alert the people to the scam-like qualities of this thread.

My opinion.. This is either a scam, or a legit startup business owned and operated by bmortensen himself. If either of these are the case then the thread should be locked.

Good job.

I also couldn't find them in pricewatch or by googling, so how the heck could someone 'just come across them last month' for the Dells to sell like "hotcakes"?

LOCK.

If I owned the store and I wanted to do some 'rule breaking' self-promotion, I wouldn't use my real name in my handle. I DO NOT own the store. A friend of mine heard about this site last month and sent me the link because he knew I was looking for a laptop. I bought it, put it on a credit card (which has insurance just in case) and received it. It's working great. The fact that the laptop was on the site last month, and is not on it this month, caused me to assume it must have sold out fast.

I've been reading and following deals on this site for almost a year. I've never had an account before. I thought I'd set one up this month and when I finally got around to it, I thought I'd post a link to a deal that appears to be legit as my first contribution.

Following the first FALSE accusation from 'RDMustang1', I did some followup with BigDaddyDeals. Turns out he's been selling stuff on eBay for the past year. Decided last month to open up his own online store. It IS a startup...started with a little bit of upfront cash--hence the hotmail account and paypal option. His opening marketing last month consisted of emailing some of his past eBay customers alerting them of the new storefront. One of my friends had purchased something from him in the past and forwarded the link to me last month.

That said, I don't appreciate 'RDMustang1's accusations and think they're uncalled for. I understand the hesitation and speculation--voice it and leave it alone. Everyone has a right to their opinion--but I've already addressed your concerns.

I DO NOT own this store. I am a happy customer who was passing on the link to other people who may be interested in it. That's what this forum is for right?!?!
