Just watched the video, and I think she's dead on.

One thing about the "body positive" movement: If you have to keep telling people you are beautiful, you are not.

I get calling people out for shit, I really do. But is it really necessary to essentially call out every single fat person you see because of a lifestyle choice you don't agree with?

I think smoking is disgusting, makes things smell poorly, and also causes severe health issues that others get burdened with but I'm not gonna a video shouting "HEY SMOKER, I'M SHAMING YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR SHITTY LIFESTYLE CHOICE. FEEL BAD SMOKER, YOU'RE NOT A GOOD PERSON". They accept the risk of their choice and pay the price for it.


Should pedophiles, rapists, murderers, and the like be shamed? Absofuckinglutely

How about when I go to someone's home and they let their pets use the floor as a toilet, never clean it up, and get upset that I refuse to step foot in their house? Yes and it is disgusting.

How about we spend more time coming up with better ways to educated children, end hunger, or any other activity that doesn't out right single out a group of people?

Smokers do pay a price for smoking. It's called taxes on cigarettes. As far as I know, fat people do not pay any more taxes than someone who isn't fat. IN FACT, in those cases where taxes or restrictions have been imposed for "health" reasons (I'm looking at you NYC), the tax is on EVERYONE, no just fat people. Sorry, but your analogy just doesn't work.

And if you've ever watched tv, you will see plenty of government-sponsored smoke-shaming commercials. In fact, they've antied up the rhetoric as of late with the new commercials showing the physical effects of smoking, including some from folks who are now dead. have you ever seen a fat-shaming commercial sponsored by the government? Nope.

Additionally, your lifestyle choice causes increases in health insurance and medical costs...on EVERYONE. So, I think the attack on the lifestyle is fair game.

I'll just keep losing weight, 60 lbs over 2 years, not so fatty anymore. But race/age/location/etc certainly do change things. So what if you can't choose them all? Those darn pesky facts!

Fat Guy here. at least, I am obese according to BMI. I am stable around 300 pounds. I was about 240-250 when I was in high school on the swim team (in shape).

Im still active, still work out, and reduced my diet down from 8000 calories to around 3500-4000, but its not possible to cut down any more, Im not willing to suffer that much hunger and things like vertigo when I stand up and low blood pressure.

hip:waist ratio is more important that one or the other, there's a decent chance she's at worth a second look. That and she might actually be fit and have a nice ass

Last night I was subtly shamed by two 200+ lb women for not putting 2000 calories of french pastry on my plate. In fact I skipped dessert all together, because I felt guilty about eating so much at dinner. And believe me the bakery desserts looked fantastic.

They know they have a disease or disorder, whatever you want to call it. What killed me was when one asked the other if she was going to the overeating support group in the morning, as she was consuming masses of sugar. I think one or both of them have diabetes. This led to a discussion (I sat on the sidelines) of how skinny people don't understand how difficult keeping weight off is. They feel because they went from 400+ lbs to under 200 lbs, that only they can understand. All I know is, one or both underwent a surgical procedure for weight loss, but without changing dietary habits and prioritizing some exercise, these surgical procedures cannot achieve their goals in the long run.
