Death- do you think about it?

I've been thinking about death about 1-2 times a day. I think about how, when and where I'm going to die. Maybe I'll get hit by a car. Maybe I will be bed ridden and die from cancer. Maybe I will live to 100 and die in my sleep. Maybe I'll die from a tornado. Bus accident. Plane crash. Maybe I'll have a heart attack right here while I'm typing this on ATOT.

I think it's important to think about death. Why? Because most people mistakenly think they have 1,000 years to live. We don't. Life is quickly passing us. 10 years seems like just yesterday. You don't have all the time in the world. This is it.

Are you doing everything you want to do in life? I think it's important to keep asking yourself this everyday. It's been stated that most Americans are unhappy with their job. We also have the highest rate of depression. Why? We have everything, yet many people are severely depressed.

Not yet, but you're right... 10 years goes by in a flash... 23 becomes 33 before you know it and suddenly the people making the youtube videos are your younger successors while you look back thinking "man I'm getting old" ... since the last 10 years went so fast I better make the next 10 really count.

You should think about death. Often. It is one of the two guarantees in life. That and taxes. I've had the awesome opportunity to work alongside death, very close in fact. I not only accepted it but I delivered it, on multiple occasions. One of the sad parts was delivering that news to the young families of those who it affected, was sad, for sure. I mean, to be 19 years old and to face death, the ultimate ender of all, it was sad.

But it did happen. It does happen. It has happened for 20,000 years before me and you, and will happen for 20,000 years after me and you. It doesn't discriminate. Not against men, women, children, black, white, doesn't matter. It's coming for us all. All you can do is appreciate it as a constant in the universe, just likes Ohm's law. It just is. It is and it is Is. It isn't going to make any type of exception. It's a bit beautiful in a way, in that it treats us all the same... I don't know. It just is.

With that said I am a bit sad that my comrades were only 19 years old when they stepped on bombs. When they were shot in the throat by others. That I lived when they didn't. And of course others will get mad when I say that and try to justify their existence on this planet...but really nobody can. Nobody is supposed to be here, we are accidents, just enjoy your time here man. Just live it up. Love who you can. Love the children especially, make sure they have the best time of their lives, because tomorrow their skin might melt in the fiery apocalypse of a nuke. You never know. Just live for the sake of living. The other side is scary. Sleep well my friend.

I sometimes think about it and ponder how surreal it will be to go to the other side. I'm a Christian and have accepted Jesus and have faith that I'm going to heaven and that there IS a heaven and God in first place and that the Bible is true. So I'm not scared of death, actually kind of excited about it in a way, but it's still the unknown, so there's still a slight fear. You can have faith but there's always that slight "what if" that lingers.

But life on earth is basically a slight blib of darkness surrounded by eternal light. Make the best you can out of it, but it's not all you have.

I just live my life to full potential. I think about it sometimes and have conquered it many times believe it or not. Stopped a co-worker from stabbing me. Faced a gun a few times. First time was in between a drug deal gone bad in a pawn shop. Even had a few moments with a particular mafia which will remain nameless.

I have had a hell of a life and I'm only 34 going on 35 in October.

Death? Just another damn day. Personally, I don't believe in death. Luke 10:25 for example:

The scariest/saddest thing is know that the universe WILL continue to exist beyond my experience with it. Assuming there's is no apocalyptic scenario (unlikely imo except in the very distant future), we WILL continue to exist and invent and evolve for a thousand years, a million years, and so on. It's weird because I'm not even a very happy person and in the short-term I often want to die, but then I watch the skyline and imagine it in 2100 and just feel sad that I'll never see it. If death in real life was followed by spectator mode, I think I would be pretty damn chuffed to just float around and observe.

Assuming there's is no apocalyptic scenario (unlikely imo except in the very distant future), we WILL continue to exist and invent and evolve for a thousand years, a million years, and so on. What if you will still see 2100, but form a different place? Or perhaps you will be reincarnated?

In a way I've already resigned to being mortal. I think people need to realize that they aren't immortal and that their choices matter. But people need to realize this in a good way, in a way that makes you seek out a goal and dedicate yourself to that goal.

When your soul leaves your body, the choice to return or not is not always up to you. New and less experienced younger souls do not have a choice in the matter, and they always return. Older souls may decide to wait a while before returning, because they have earned that right at some point in their development. And if your soul has finally matured to the point where you don't want to return, then that is what you will probably do. And as far as where your souls go in the interim between reincarnations, I can't discuss that part.

If that's what you want to believe, then more power to you. Young souls tend to think like that. Or they tend to swing the exact opposite direction, and instead become overly fanatical about a religion. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with your viewpoint, because it is how you see reality at this stage of your being and I guess it's working out OK for you at the moment.
