<< Parliament member Mario Fehr nominated Williams and said the inmate, who is on death row for killing four people, changed the lives of others through his series of children's books and international peace efforts. >>

Yeah, and just look how he changed the lives of the four schmucks he murdered. Somehow I don't think the founder of the Crips is going to win any Nobel Peace Prize, no matter how many kids he "reforms".

<< "He's a great man. We are happy to nominate him," Mohamud said. >>

Yeah, a great man. A great murderer and thug too, but hey, as long as he's been acting like he's sorry, let's give him an award.

Sorry, but this just really hits a nerve with me. What the hell are people thinking? Some things should just automatically disqualify you from stuff, and being a murderer should be at the top of the list of no-no's.

hey crighton dont you belive in rehabilitation?

The man has NO chance of ever getting out of jail yet he still chose to do good and reform children with his books, so how can you sit there and call him a murdering thug in light of all the good work he has done? he's obviously trying to do well with whatever life he has left. Please there is no need to further condem a condemed man....

My attitude toward Bush exactly. Once a worthless drunk always a worthless drunk. There's no such thing as recovering from a mistake. I'm right aren't I?

I kinda agree with ChrictonsGirl, but I think that Tookie should be recognized for what he meant to so manyh young lives. Nobel Peace prize though...

Well the 4 dead people say he shouldn't have it.

You all crack me up no end.

There should be some other sort of prize...

"The Most Improved Peace Prize" or something like that should do it.

I realised that the nobel peace prize was politically-decidedm when arafat and rabin won it(don't remember the year)-a terrorist and a general who lead a war...peace prize my ass lol..there are other examples..nelson mandela etc.
About the nomination, what can I say but stupid liberalism or extreme left...someone say we shouldn't condemn a condemned...well surely we shouldn't give him the nobel peace prize either...

Yeah Bober, that's it!

Maybe we can get a coalition together here at ATOT and start the process. I always did want to be active in making the world a better place.... Ride, I nominate you as our first committee chairman.

Hey, maybe we can get a Nobel Peace Prize for our pioneering ideas!

Do you remember what type of people Christ hanged around with? It was the prostitutes, beggars, and murderers. Everyone has commited sin. Dont be so quick to cast the first stone.

You do have to give him some sort of credit. How many death row inmates have any sort of remorse for what they've done, let alone working to keep other people from making the same mistakes. I personally commend his work. I don't think that it makes the murders right, but at least he's made some difference in the world to counteract all the trouble he has created in the past.

You could say the same about Gore. Once a worthless pothead always a worthless pothead. There's no such thing as recovering from a mistake.

Mr Rogers for president.

Bobby Ribs..

Christ is an unproven person, in a book that is unproven. Using "legends" as examples is not crediable. Im not saying he didnt exist, but he is a "legend" or possible "myth" Therefore using him as a factual example simply doesnt work.

Absolutely.

And don't you believe that there are some crimes that simply go so far beyond the pale of what society should accept that the person who committed them is prohibited from being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize? I can call him a murdering thug because that is what he is. He may be someone who genuinely cares about children now, maybe he really does want to dedicate his life to good, but part of what he is is also a murdering thug. Nothing can or should take that away, just as his being a murderer and the founder of the Crips doesn't mean we can take away his more, er, humanitarian efforts lately.

Should he be congratulated on trying to make amends by educating teenagers about the dangers of gangs? Sure. But to suggest that he is no longer a murderer does a greater disservice to the victims he left than my words do to him.

No Lebowski, I'm not a Blood (at least I don't seem to be wearing my colors tonight). And I'm not going to touch the political bend in this thread.

And Bobby Ribs - considering the other day you tossed off a comment insinuating that maybe my ex getting a younger girlfriend meant something was wrong with me, maybe you're right about the whole "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" thing.

ChrichtonsGirl ,

One day you will do something you will be sorry for and ask for forgiveness. It doen't matter the degree of sin you commit, it is still forgivable.

So, the next time you hurt someones feeling, or whatever you might do that might warrant their forgiveness, just remember this.

There is not a limit on ones sins that warrant it as unforgivable.... only one sin is unforgivable, and that's blasphamy of the holy spirit. I don't think he commited blasphamy by killing those people.

If God can forgive him, man should be able to too...

I used to do Drugs and drink alcohol when I was young. Does that make me a drug addict and alcoholic for the rest of my life? No.

People "can" change into a new person which burries the old. The only thing that makes him a murderer scum, is your own opinion.
When someone takes on a new life, it's up to YOU to perceive the new image, or you can just keep the picture of their past in your mind and have a false sense of who they really are.

It's one thing to commit a crime such as murder and just say "I'm sorry" and just sit out your sentence... But to not just say "I'm sorry" but to go as far as saying "...and I'm going to do something about it" "I'm going to try to help others from making the same mistakes..."

By having this kind of ambition he probably (obviously) changed a lot of peoples lives...
Yes, he murdered some people, but by doing so, he maybe have saved thousands of other people from commiting the same crime...

Gods work is done in mysterious ways sometimes
