Debating buying a 2005 GTO

if you have the money to buy a bmw remember the parts are expensive as hell. But then again you can sell the car down the line for much more then you would beable to sell the gto. I would get the GTO just because its a badass car with a v8.

Then I wouldn't mind taking it into the shop all the time, and losing a boat load of cash come time to sell it or trade it in.

now what car do you speak from experience on? the GTO specifically? because i have not heard of any issues with GTO's

i dunno the GTO has a bullet proof engine that has had years to mature, and a body that has had years to mature also. hence why there are no issues.

Go for it... just remember that it's still a Pontiac. Of the three Pontiacs my dad has had for a business car, all three have turned to crap within three years.

I'm not a fan of the GTO's styling, but BMWs have pretty high maintenance costs, which would definitely deter me from buying one.

For that money, I would also consider a Mustang GT Convertible or an Infiniti G35.

I have a Pontiac that is 18 years old with 140k miles on it, and it runs great. The car has been bulletproof in the 6 years I've had it.

I'd get the GTO over the BMW, if it were my choice. Repairs on any BMW will be very expensive, and the GTO can be had for much less, with more options.

Don't get me wrong, they ran just fine. It's just that everything else broke... tears in the seats, broken handles, cracking trim, etc. You name it, and it probably fell off or broke. And these cars were used for nothing more than business transportation... no kids, pets, etc.

No. I tend to buy somewhat on impulse, and on styling. I like the body styles of these two cars, but not, for example, that of the Maxima or the 350Z. Back in 2000-2004, I leased a Grand Am GT, and really liked the car, and from what I've seen so far, the GTO is superior.

Test drive them both, you can definitely answer the question yourself.

I believe a BMW and an American Muscule feel completely different. Anyhow, that LS2 engine sure sounds good.

I've owned BMWs and I've driven the GTO. I am not overly impressed either one quite frankly. The 330Ci is a really nice car with a great chassis and decent power, but it is expesive and expensive to repair. The GTO is a heavy brute of a car with lots of power but a mediocre chassis. The BMW is very refined and the GTO is totally unrefined. Two completely different cars.

Drive both and then choose. Don't go by what your neighbor says or what the morons here who've never driven either car tell you though.

Just out of curiousity, why not look at the Inifiniti G35 coupe?

I have read your review, and I've driven both the GTO and the 330Ci (and liked them both). From a gut feel standpoint, the GTO is more "me" than the BMW.

Just so I don't Syringer you all: I am buying the GTO (black w/black interior, 6-speed, with 18" chrome alloys). Today. I take delivery on it tomorrow..
