Debating weather to wait or not

Ok some of you have read my post and you know i am not a totaly idiot but i am going to be biulding my first system from the ground up once I get my settlement about 2 monthes from now.

here is my debate I am tired of my pc but I hate getting locked out of upgrading so should I wait for a board tha support prescott if prescott follows the same packaging as the P4A's and B's and buy the nice board and use an older P4 but if it desnt I am screwed any solid info on this yet.

or if prescott will be another platform should I just enjoy a nicely ocing P4A system in a moth or two?

what do you guys think?

Well I don't know much about the Prescott, but I am sure it will cost some money. Why not just go ahead and get a p4 1.6 and oc it now. You will have plenty of speed to handle any game out there for a while. For under $400 you can get a cpu, mobo, and tons of RAM. Probably a lot less money than the latest and greatest from Intel.

I'd just build a system with what's out there now, then upgrade it later if you feel it necessary. All information points to the fact that intel will stick with S478 through at least prescott. Can never be sure though.

All boards that have just come out recently SHOULD be able to support Prescott upon its release, but you never know with Intel here lately. Slot, socket, another socket, another....Argh!
Anywayz if they don't change sockets on us, a BIOS update should allow support for it.

whether to wait or not is the oldest question in the computer industry.

best advice anyone ever had for that is buy when you need it and not before.

then the other issue Dual Channel DDR and Serial ATA would that be worth waiting for it looks like by the end of this year it should be out.
