Sucks you had to go through all that. Hope you guys recover soon.

I promised myself when I get my bike later this year that I will never carry a passenger on my bike, no matter how cool it'll look having a girl giving me the reach around, it's not worth the life. If I'm gonna crash and die, I want to be the only person affected, physically.

Having a passenger can be an enjoyable experience for both, if you both act/ride in a safe manner. Don't shut that possibility out just b/c of Dave's experience. Just make sure she wears gear like you.

Fear of motorcycles? lol. Give me a crotch rocket and a Saturday at the track and you would see a ear to ear grin from the time I drive to the track in the morning till the trackday ends that day.
Hell drop me off at the local offroad trails with a bike and same story.
I've ridden motorcycles my whole life.
Riding on the street is friggin boring. Not only that it doesn't make it anymore enjoyable dodging the idiots that don't give a flip if you are shoveled up off the street because of their carelessness.

Towing my bike to a track everytime I want to ride is just a ridiculous waste of time and resources.

Give you a crotch rocket? Get your own bike you big chicken.

Someone in the garage said this the other day and I am going to quote it again because it is completely true, "You seem like a good guy with good intentions, but you consistently give some of the worst motorcycle advice on this forum."

OK, you have no fear of motorcycles. You simply don't choose to accept the risks involved with street riding. It doesn't change the point I was making.

Get well soon OP.

"A Trooper came to the Hospital later to give me a ticket for failure to maintain lane control. I didn't look at the ticket yet to see how much etc."

Some departments have MANDATORY ticketing on every accident. It's a bizarre policy.

Get better soon.

Especially since he wiped out on the shoulder. Wow, what greedy pigs. Traffic cops are just glorified tax collectors.

If they are anything like here the cop didn't have a choice. Here the law is if the damage is over $1k or someone is injured and you can determine you must write a ticket. No choice. Don't hate the cop who is doing what's required, write your legislator.

I always give you shit over you failed predictions, but man i hope you and Debi heal up quickly. Motorcycles scare the living crap out of me. Whenever i see one on the road i always give it a wide birth and right of way.

My dad just recently started riding. Everytime he rides i always ask whoever's in charge of Fate to lt him come home safe, especially considering he cheated death once already last November.

Get well soon!

I just had a similar thing happen to me 4 weeks ago.
I ride a scooter (50cc). Had someone not see me and run a stop sign, I swerved to avoid hitting them (and them hitting me) and then lost control and hit the asphalt at 35mph.

Luckily I had no broken bones or head trauma. Pretty bad road rash along both my arms, hands and right side of my nose. Sprained my right hand. My glasses broke and the lens took off most of my left eyebrow and also a chunk of my cheek below my eye. I got a couple of stitches in my ear where my earings ripped out, no stitches on my face since that tissue was actually missing and there was nothing to actually sew up.

It sucks but it will heal quicker than you think. Best wishes!

I guess it's dangerous trying to control a motorcycle while transporting boxes of restricted vinegar across state lines.

Glad you two are still in this realm and are on the mend.

A word of warning, if you haven't already had to deal with it in the past.

Do NOT mess around with the bills, because your insurance will mess up and the ER/docs/whatever will try and milk you by clever billing tactics. Early this year I had to go to the ER and then some specialists for a few months after, and I just got done dealing with past due bills that the insurance company "missed". Make sure you start a file for any and all medical bills/receipts/invoices and get a sheet from your insurance listing your benefits. If you have your insurance through work you'd better start getting to know the rep in HR, because they will be the one calling up the insurance and hospitals to bitch them out.

If you happen to get sent to collections (mine were dumb $20 and $80 that got lost in the piles that came in) don't worry, because you have 30 days from the date the notice was sent to get it taken care of before it shows on your credit report. I would say bills that are less than $100 should just be paid for due to the fact those are the ones that seem to cause the most heartburn trying to get covered.

so if i'm reading this correctly, all your road rash would have not happened had you not dressed like an idiot.

you'd still have some broken bones, but you'd be in much better condition. food for thought.
